We've talked about pricey artwork before. Henri Matisse's L'Odalisque, Harmonie Bleue fetched $33.6 million at Christie's auction house in New York.

With 33.6 million, I can get a whole lotta stuff than one painting. LOL

It said that this was Matissee's Russian model in the picture.

Yes. I shouldn't pay a single dollar for it, even if it was a Matisse. I'd rather like a Goya, a Fragornard, a Dali or a Renoir. But a Matisse..ugh. I agree with your comment, Savannah, totally. Applause

I agree Venessa. It's absurd that athletes and celebrities are being pay millions, yet educational programs are being penny pinched. mad

It's true. I've always found it confusing that someone who plays pretend for a living can be seen as a role model, and millions of people try to be just like them. Yet, the true heroes go completely unnoticed.

The word "hero" has being used so loosely nowadays. When I was growing up, heroes are the people sacrifice their own lives to save others. I personally do not think that atheletes and celebrities are any just because they hit a home run, or make it to the top chart. JMHO!

My fiance loves Dali! I myself am a DaVinci and Monet fan.

However, I would love to have that Matisse. If I did...as soon as it touched my hands I'd sell it! LOL I can't understand spending that sort of money on a painting when, as some of you have mentioned, there are people starving in the world. I think much better things could be done with millions of dollars.
