| Oh my word, what a day! I don't think I've been so scared in months! This morning, we left early to go visit the children. When we got there, the children were all doing okay. We made some crafts, and talked . . . and suddenly, Caleb came over to me, started softly crying, and said his throat really hurt. Then, his eyes turned blood red, and his face started swelling up, with little bumps all over - in his eyes, in his nose, down his neck. . . . I called John in (April was still at work) and John told him "Just calm down and you'll be okay". I was so angry at that! Caleb wasn't freaking out, he was just softly crying because he HURT. Mom and I asked John to at least call the ER, and see what they suggested, because he wouldn't listen to us when we told him that Caleb needed to go in. FINALLY, he relented and called ER. They told him "Get him in here NOW". So, John was going to take just Caleb, but Caleb said "Pweease, Daddy, let her come! I need her!". So I went. Then John couldn't find the hospital - and we got stuck at a loooooooooooong train. ( I was praying that God would shorten that train!) Caleb was drooping, and having a little difficulty breathing. Thank the Lord it wasn't serious breathing problems! When finally got there, they took one look at Caleb (who by now was completely covered in hives and had lobster-red skin) and rushed him into the back before even checking him in. The first words the doctor said to John? "You shouldn't have waited as long as you did. You should have brought him right in. Next time, don't wait for him to get this bad!" We spent four and a half hours in the ER, and thank the Lord, Caleby is okay tonight.I'm absolutely exhausted, but incredibly thankful that my little fella is okay. I just wish he was here with me, snuggled up safely by my side.

| Savannah...This look as an allergic shock. Is Caleb allergic to something? My heart aches for him, poor little boy. Is he O.K now? I'm praying for him. :alright:

| Thank the Lord, he is okay now, Vanesa. He, apparently, is either allergic to Brazil nuts (the only unusual thing he'd eaten this morning) OR he could be allergic to the oil it had been roasted with. (Canola oil) He'd never had Canola oil before. But he's never had allergic reactions to anything but strawberries before. He eats peanuts and peanut butter all the time! Very strange - and very scary! | |

| Thank the Lord he's okay. Does his father have any common sense at all? I must have missed how you got to be able to see the kids again. Last I knew, John and April were moving away and not telling you where they were. What happened? Thank God you're there to watch over these kids because those two idiots don't have the sense that God gave geese.
Try to relax now. I hope Caleb gets better soon, though they told me that breakouts can last for up to two weeks when our little one got them right before Thanksgiving.

| I'm glad to hear Caleb is doing better now, Savannah. But please keep an eye on him, the body won't react to the food allergies on the first time, it's like an introduction to the body on that first time, it will react on the second time. That was what the ER doctor told me after I brought my older daughter there for hives when she was 2, we found out that she was allergic to all kinds of nuts (don't we wish we all are?! :Hahaha: ). I pray that your precious nephews and niece won't suffer more because of the neglience from their parents. "Within the heart of every stray, lies the singular desire to be loved."

| I am so glad that you were there, Savannah! I don't want to even think about what could have happened if you weren't there. Those were such obvious signs of an allergic reaction. All I was thinking when I was reading that was, anaphylactic shock. I am so glad that he is okay!! {{{HUGS}}} I can't imagine how scared you were. | |

| I'm happy Caleb is all right by now. I also thinks he will be better with you. As soon as you mentioned the symptoms he had, I realized it was an allergic shock. How can it be that his father didn't realize it? My grandpa had the same reaction some 20 years ago, but even if the physician came to see him (he collapsed for the shock and we believed he was died), they NEVER found out what was the cause of this allergic shock. He never had it any more. Vanesa. | |
