| Yesterday afternoon, I went in and backed up all of my photos, and stories. Just figured that since it had been a couple of weeks, I should get to it. Well, this morning, when I went to start my laptop, it gave me the message: lsass.exe system error: object name not found. I have no idea where the sasser worm came from, but it made itself to home, and my laptop had to be completely wiped. I did lose a couple of things that I didn't remember to back up, but not much, really. But that sure was close! There wasn't any warning or indication that anything was wrong......What a pain. But at least not much is lost. I just hate having to start over again with adding favorites and programs and updates...... | |

| Oh, that was close Savannah! Good thing you had most things backed up! “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

| What a bad beginning of the year, Savannah and Misti! I hope things will be better for both of you. Savannah..These worms are just awful. Everytime I have something important in my archives, I record them into a CD. I had so many bads experiences with these that I don't want to be exposed to them any more... Vanesa. | |

| Oh no Savannah! I am so glad that you had most everything backed up. I know I would have felt sick if I had lost so much that was important to me.
Misti, I'm relieved to hear that the fire was put out quickly. I would have been pretty scared having that happen!

Vanesa. Thanks, everyone! And I totally agree with what Vanesa, Savannah & Lily said. It is so important to back things up on your computer; advice that I haven't always done. I do have my Family Tree Maker files backed up and do that whenever I add anyone. I really need to do that with my other ones; I'm going to have to remember that.
One year I had files from our annual Christmas program that I work on every year. It is the songs, scriptures and poems typed out so that I can make copies. Well, that one year my computer crashed and I lost it all. I had to start all over. This is actually a good reminder to do that! A reminder for me, too - I haven't backed up anything besides schoolwork (stories, pictures, etc), in a long time either - I think I will do that this afternoon. Savannah, that was a close call! I'm sorry you lost those two arrangements, but I'm glad you backed up some of your other stuff.
And Misti, how scary! I'm glad you all are safe. {{hugs}} "It is still best to be honest and truthful; to make the most of what we have; to be happy with simple pleasures and to be cheerful and have courage when things go wrong."

| A flashdrive is a portable little memory storage device. It enables you have access to all your files wherever you go by plugging into any computers. We all use that at my work. "Within the heart of every stray, lies the singular desire to be loved." | |

| You can get them at Walmart or Kmart, etc. . . . any stores like those. And it'll store files, pictures, music . . . whatever, up to how much memory it has. There are smaller ones, and larger ones. I have a few smaller ones, and a 1 gig - which is the largest that *I* have . . but there are larger ones than that. | |

| Wow! I was looking at Wal-Mart online, and they have a two gig flash drive for $16.48! I need to make a trip to Wal-Mart. Plus I need to get a reader for my camera's card. | |
