| My favorite scene was when Mary and Laura goes to fish with Pa and they begins to said silly things about the Widow! I remember that Mary said she was fat or something like that... :shifty: Vanesa. | |

| Poor Caroline. I thought it was sad when she made that pretty blouse to show off for her husband and Charles didn't say a thing about how she looked! Men! lol | |

| I loved this epsiode because it showed how easy it is to jump to the wrong conclusions about people. It was very sad, though, when Charles didn't even notice Caroline's new blouse. | |

| My Granny used to say that women dressed for each other, but that men only noticed the whole in them, not the little details. For example, they notices that you are beatiful this night and said you: "You are so wonderful today! What do you have?"...And they don't see your new earrings, or shoes, or hairdoss. Vanesa. | |

| One of my bosses would notice if I changed my hair or had a pretty dress on before my husband would. I think it's has lots to do with being around one another so much. At my last job I had worn my hair long for 3 years. When I got pregnant for my youngest daughter, I cut my hair really short and wore something I hadn't worn in a long time. My boss came around the corner and saw me talking to a co-worker, and said, "Wow!" and then snuck into his office. I never quite knew if the "wow" was good or bad, and I sure wasn't going to ask him about it. | |

| Mary actually looks quite a bit older in this episode. And when she and Pa drops the dishes off to Mrs Thurmon, Mrs Thurmon actually sort of picks Mary up out of the wagon as if 12 yo Mary is a toddler... | |

I have a friend who says the same thing. He said that he could never understand why women need to "fix up" before they went somewhere as they look perfectly fine- and usually better- before they "fixed up." There's something about Mariette Hartley (Mrs. Thurmon) that I really like. The only other show that I've seen her in The Incredible Hulk: Married. Upon looking up the title I learned that she won an Emmy for her performance. I'm not surprised! Laura and Mary's conversation with Charles while they were fishing was hilarious! It was also clever of Pa to go fishing. He seemed to know that he would be able to continue to fish and the girls would end up picking the berries! I want to know why we don't ever seem to see these plates later on!

| I agree! This conversation while they were fishing always cracks me up! I like those rare moments in which Mary is pushed - of course by Laura! - to misbehave. Poor Mary! Vanesa. | |

| Once again, I disagree with the people on this forum. I thought this episode was boring. It had a few nice moments, but all in all, I did not really care for it. - Quote :

I don't remember them going fishing. I thought they all three went picking mushrooms?

| What I want to know is where are the dishes later...the ones Laura said they'd use everyday! All the trouble to get them for "Ma", the lies, fibs, gossip, etc. and then they have the tin dishes still. Not a big deal I suppose, but a bit odd. My daughter joked they sold them for new shoes or food. | |

| I've seen the dishes comment brought up on LHOP forums and sometimes just on a TV review site. I think the reason it sticks out (and did to me way back the first time) was that Laura not only does a voice over about using them all the time, but the entire show is about what Charles does to give Caroline the dishes. She states she doesn't need a hutch because their dishes wouldn't do it justice, etc. and he goes and does all this hard work to get her them. That barrel cost him a lot of sweat and gossip. Then you see those miss-matched tin dishes and cups again. I wouldn't use them all the time, but maybe dinner or holiday's. They do show the pretty shirt Caroline makes though on many other shows, it looked so nice on her. I wish she had something nice during the show, she worked so hard for everyone.

| I must say watching this again today on Hallmark, Widow Thurman's home is so beautiful, inside and out. I think it is far more classy than the Oleson's with the porch and Victorian accents. Too bad they couldn't have used this building for the blind school (or maybe they did since they reused homes at times)
You tend to notice more details when you watch it again and it was, to me, the nicest home in Walnut Grove.
The "Little House" is special in its own way, adorable, but I would love to have lived in Widow Thurman's now....with or without her dishes. : )

Men! lol I thought he did say something after when he was leaving, "That was a nice blouse you had on today" a or something like that and Caroline sighed. Was it cut out or was that from another show?

Was it cut out or was that from another show? He says it that night right before he goes to bed. He tells her again what a great supper it was and he mentions it was a pretty new blouse she had on. Only by that time, Caroline is so worried about what he's doing at the Widow Thurman's house, she can't appreciate the compliment.
