| That must have been scary, Jacob. It makes it difficult to get back to sleep after something like that. Even if it turns out to be something rather simple. | |

| That must have been very frightening. I know I wouldn't have been able to sleep after that. I hope you solved the mystery and that's all it was. | |

| That is really scary. About a month ago, me and my siblings were watching a movie (LHOTP, i think!) while my mom took a shower and this van pulls up. I thought it was some friends of ours who drive a van, and they come over all the time without calling to get something or bring us something. Anyway, this man walks up to the porch, and says he wants to clean our carpets right there, right now, and it's free and all we have to do is tell 5 friends what a great job he did. Then, when I say I'll go ask my mom, he grabs the door and comes in the house. I went and asked mom, and she was still in the shower and coundn't come, and he left really quick, and didn't leave anything or wait to tallk to my mom. My parents think me most likley was scoping the place out. We even had officers from the jail come and make a report about it. It was pretty scary, and every time we come home, I wonder if we've been robbed! I had a little trouble sleeping after it happend, too. Nothing ever came of it, and I'm GLAD! ~ Home is the nicest word there is ~ | |

| That's so scary, Jacob! I'm glad whoever it was went away.
Farmer Girl, something similar happened to my grandparents a few years ago. They were just getting home from the store and as they were walking up the steps, three men came up the driveway and said they would do some concrete work for them - which, they did need done on their stairs. My 83-year-old grandpa said "sure", and one of them said he needed a bucket of water, and when my grandpa opened the door, he pushed past him and said he'd get it. My grandpa followed him while one of the others talked to my grandma, and they lost track of the third. They all left a few minutes later, and the next day, my aunt opened the closet door and found that it was a mess, as if someone had gone through it looking for something. I'm just glad that my grandparents didn't have any money or valuables stashed around that would cause these three jerks to stay around longer, or worse yet, come back. People that take advantage of others make me sick. | That is very scarey, especially when they force their way in your house. We have women getting grabbed around here a lot, lately when they are walking or jogging. Some are not hurt because their attackers get scared away when someone comes by. In the past week in our neighborhood, cars are somehow broken into without being damaged and any valuables are stolen. Seems like gone are the days where you took pride in working hard for what you wanted, you didn't steal it. Spring is finally here, the lovely pink blooms on the "spray" tree outside my window are gone leaving a beautiful willow.

| It certainly is a very scary world we live in. There used to be a man that lived behind us that would knock on our back door. The first time he said that he needed to borrow dog food. Now mind you, we have a rather large German Shephard and he had these tiny little Daushounds, but whatever. Anyway, I had an odd feeling about him, just showing up at my backdoor like that. Especially since he had to climb the fence to get to my door, even though other neighbors next to him also had dogs. So, I closed and locked the door while I got him the food, handed it to him and he left. The next thing I know I'm leaving to go somewhere with my kids and my neighbor comes up to me and wants to talk to me, earshot away from the kids. She said that after that guy left my house that he went back home and was standing in his backdoor, and I won't even say what he was doing.
They called the police but said they said they couldn't do anything, since he was on his own property. I told my husband when he got home and he started to run out of the backdoor to kick this guys butt, which would have been real smart since he would have probably been hauled off to jail, leaving me home alone with the kids. So, he went to the police station himself and this time got a female officer, who told him that was not okay at all. I was at work at that time, so they sent an officer over later, just for me to tell him what happened. He went over to the guys house, but he wasn't home, so nothing was done. This was on a Friday.
So, Monday morning rolls around an I'm home with my daughter and a little girl I babysit for and there is a knock at the door again, while I'm on the phone with Tim. And it's my neighbor behind me again. I did not dare answer the door, but called the cops, and explained what was happening. He wondered why I didn't answer the door because he wondered how I didn't know that the guy needed help. Well, after some rather choice words, the cop came over.
In the meantime, I look out my back window and he is putting his "show" on in his backdoor again. So, I tape what I can through the crack in the curtain. The cop came out and did talk to him this time, of course he denied it, but I did have it on tape. Anyhow, he stopped banging on my backdoor. But I never did again feel very safe after that. I remember lying awake at night, listening for sounds and I slept with the telephone. Plus, I couldn't let the kids out in the backyard anymore. Thankfully, he moved away a couple of years ago. Actually he abandoned his house because he was running from the police on something unrelated.

| My wife had a peeper looking in at her once.
So I stayed home one night, stayed up, and told her to do what she usually does at bedtime.
He got to look at the twin barrels of a .20 guage instead.
He never came back. | |

- Pam, how awful! There are some sick people in this world. It's very disgusting that people have no regard for others and are just plain messed up!
I know. One strange thing that I forgot to mention is that we used to find big chunks of meat in our backyard during the time all of this was happening. And our dog, who would eat anything, would not eat them. We didn't know where the meat came from, and after asking around, we could only assume that it was the neighbor behind us. We told the police about them, and they said to bring anymore that we find in, so that they could send them to a lab and have the meat checked for poisoning. But there were no more chunks of meat left after that. It was very strange.
