I love that---wish it was longer! She does have a lovely voice! Actually, it reminds me of how I remember my grandmother's voice.

This recording is available on cd at all of the hosesites. I have one and love it. She is describing a set of dolls that a group of schoolchildren sent to her.

Do I detect a sort-of southern twang accent? I'm sure I'm wrong. Would she have a Minnesota accent?

In fact, she lived just a little while in Minnesota. After four years in Walnut Grove (and not in a row, for she spent some little time in Burr Oak, Iowa) Laura lived in De Smet, South Dakota, were she met Almanzo Wilder and married. Their daughter, Rose was born in De Smet and when the girl was seven, they moved to Mansfield, Missouri. Laura remained there until her death, so, it's not so rare she could have a "southern accent".

Wow, interesting. Not what I expected her to sound like. But then, not sure I really gave it much thought. Maybe I was thinking in my mind that she should have sounded like Melissa Gilbert!

I got this CD when I was in Mansfield, and it is AMAZING! I can listen to it over and over again and never get tired of hearing it.

Here is the link for you to listen to snippets of Laura in an interview she did. This is not the original CD that they had of her talking to a crowd of people; that was removed from the internet. I think people were trying to profit from it. But this link is an interesting listen.Listen Here

MY hubby got me the CD of the only recording of Laura's voice for Mother's Day. After Laura talks about her family there are several songs played using Pa's fiddle. I was wondering if anyone of you have the CD, and do you know the name of the songs recorded? They are not listed on the CD cover.
I know your question was posted quite a long time ago but I was reading information tonight about the CD and found these titles listed as the ones played. Hope this helps!

I am also attaching the link to a CD of the songs Pa played on his fiddle. Every year in Mansfield, MO where the Laura Ingalls Wilder Home and Museum is, they have "Laura Ingalls Wilder Fiddle Off" during Wilder Days in September. This started in 2012 and has continued since. Buy Here--->CD: A Tribute to Charles "Pa" Ingalls
