| Tonight is the annual Relay for Life cancer walk in my city. This time of the year all over the country, cities will be having this walk to raise money for the fight against cancer. I have been going to this for many, many years, and my youngest, Josh, has always been my 'walking buddy'. The relay starts out with the Survivors taking the first lap as their Victory Lap over the disease, and the next lap is with family members and Josh has always been the one to walk with me. My other boys have walked with me as well, but Josh has been the one to stick it out the longest. When it gets dark, the luminaries are lit. These are candles that go around the track and have names of those who are being honored or those who have passed on. After the candles are lit, the names of those who have passed on are read. It is a very solemn and sobering time. The picture below is the word HOPE lit up with candles up in the bleachers. I can't help but cry when I walk the track and see that word lit up, as it is the one word that gets a cancer patient through the treatments and side effects of the chemo. Please check your area for the Relay for Life, and if you can't participate with a team, at least drop by and watch for a while. It will really put things into perspective for you.    CANCER FREE!!! | Yes, there are several walks going on in our area now. Tim and Devin just recently played in their band in a benefit to raise funds for Relay for Life. | |
