| I've been thinking about my desire to continue writing LHOP stories and working on the Continuing Story and the Reunion Story, but it seems I'm only entertaining myself. Do you read LHOP fan fics or skip over them? | |

| I read them occasionally.
There was a time when I could not stop reading other's fan fiction and was completely immersed in them a few months ago. I wanted to write my own. . .but I just never quite got the chance to finish it. It was like half of a novel. . .
Please continue writing them. You're a fabulous writer and your writing entertains me too.

| I wasn't kidding you when I told you that you're the only fanfic writer that I read, Cheryl. I never read fanfic, because most of the time it ends up that the fanfic characters are poor imitations of the real characters - or they make the characters into almost-parodies. So.......my vote would be "Only if it's written by Cheryl". | |

| Thanks ladies. Savannah you made me blush. I really do enjoy it, and it's not that I always need the feedback, but it just seems like no one is interested in the two continuing stories but me and I was hoping others would contribute more. | |

| LOL---this is too funny. I swear to God, Cheryl, I just clicked on the continuing story, got caught up, and added an entry (after 6 months!! LOL!) and then I clicked on this thread!! Uncanny! I haven't been into the LH fanfic as much as I have been into the DQ fics. I've even gotten out of the DQ fics currently. I have read a few of yours though and have enjoyed them---my vote was for 'depends on the storyline'...that's very important to me. I'm going to try to do more entries in the continuing story though---they may just have to be shorter "entries". As time allows, I'd like to give more of your fics a try too. I can see why you wanted to post this poll. I will be honest, if I was a fanfic writer, I would desire the feedback...everyone needs motivation and inspiration, and validation. I know you do it because you love it, but it's important to know that your efforts are being enjoyed by others. I get it. “Not all of us can do great things. I know you do it because you love it, but it's important to know that your efforts are being enjoyed by others. I get it. I do read the fan fictions as often as I can. I enjoy writing myself (and, adding to the continuing reunion story as well), when time allows (which unfortunately, it hasn't lately LOL). I agree with Amy too, that when you are writing a story, it's nice to get some feedback, even if it's negative feedback, because at least then you know something isn't going as you planned and you can improve on it. No feedback leads me to think that no one is reading, or if they are, they aren't interested in the story.
I particularly enjoy your stories, Cheryl, because they usually involve going deeper into an aspect that we never got to see on the show - Laura and Almanzo's courtship, what happened to Eliza Jane after she met Mort, etc. "It is still best to be honest and truthful; to make the most of what we have; to be happy with simple pleasures and to be cheerful and have courage when things go wrong."

| Thanks for checking in Amy. I should have posted the poll in the LHOP section as I planned to, so that more people would see it, but oh well. It don't crave the feedback like some writers, but it's still nice to know I'm not writing to entertain myself. That, and I don't want anyone to get the impression that I'm trying to take over those two continuing stories. | |

That's the thing Christina--which is especially important with the continuing story which has many participants. We have a continuing story over at the Diva site too and I was the only one writing it for a while. Come to find out some of the Divas didn't like the direction the story had taken. Well, since I didn't know, I kept going in the direction I had in my mind. Once we talked about the storylines more we were able to get back on track. I'm still the main contributor, but at least I know what people are looking for. | |

I feel the same way, with any show. I only read Sully & Michaela stories for Dr. Quinn, for example. With Little House, I'm not likely to read stories revolved around Eliza Jane. I should check to see if Cheryl has written any Charles & Caroline fanfics----they were quite the couple. I can't believe I haven't read any of the continuing reunion story!! I guess that's next on the list and then I'll try to contribute there as well. “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
