Yea, I hated how they split up because of Edwards drinking.
I wish they hadnt wrote that into the series :( You remain responsible.. Forever... For what you have tamed. - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

| Yes me too! Tht wasn´t the Mr Edwards as we wanted him. Not the Mr Edwards who sang Old Dan Tucker, who taught Laura how to spit and who had so many troubles taking care of the children in Ma´s Holiday (I think it was that episode) | |

| Hum...Yes. I was thinking just the same since some days by now. I don't like how the writers made him tro broke with Grace. I liked this couple so much...And I was heartbroken for Alicia, who loved her daddy so much. Vanesa. | |

| Anyone has any ideas on why they changed it. I´m curious cause I can´t find any reasonable explanation for it. Maybe they needed some tension | |

| Mr. Edwards - Biography
Laura fondly writes of Mr. Edwards, the wildcat from Tennessee throughout her series of books. Mr. Edwards was the one who made sure Laura and her sisters got their Christmas gifts from Santa Claus in Little House on the Prairie. It is also Mr. Edwards who gives Mary a twenty dollar bill to start off her college education fund. But in reality, Mr. Edwards did not exist.
It is believed that the real Mr. Edwards was actually a Mr. Edmund Mason, who is buried in the Harrison Cemetery in Independence, Kansas. It is unlikely, however, that he would have returned to Independence, after supposedly meeting up with the Ingalls in De Smet, South Dakota. However, there are many other possible people who could have been Laura's Mr. Edwards, people she wrote about in her first biographical memoirs, Pioneer Girl, and those who have shown up in the Independence Census.
It is also speculated that Mr. Edwards is a completely made-up person, whom Laura gave the traits and actions of people she knew who did kind deeds for the Ingalls throughout the years. Mr. Edwards is a mystery to all but the Ingalls family themselves, and hopefully more research will prove without a doubt who Mr. Edwards of the Little House books really was. |

- I think Edwards was a real person, we are just not sure of his real name. During the pioneer days, people from all over were helping each other out in order to survive, and who knows what this Wildcat from Tennessee real name was. He made enough of an impression on Laura when she was little, she felt she needed to mention him in her books.....to me, Mr. Edwards is real and a true friend to the Ingalls' family, and the one who taught Laura how to spit!
Yes. He was. There is some speculation about who could he have really been. It's like the case of Nellie Oleson. Of course, she was for real! Only that in Walnut Grove she was named Nellie Owens (and she also had a little brother named Willie), and in De Smet Genny Masters and Stella Gilbert. But they were real people. Something similar happend to Mr. Edwards, for sure. Vanesa.
