| For all the members of the Michigan Mafia on this board... tonight on the History Channel, the show "Modern Marvels" takes a look at our Mackinac Bridge. It's on at 8 PM eastern. Those with a fear of heights and/or water are excused from watching. | |

| I love Modern Marvels and am practically addicted to History/Discover these days. Will have to catch it on repeat, though... am going out with the co-workers tonight. "Only if you've been in the deepest valley can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain." | |

| They said that the entire structure of the bridge weighs about one million tons. But 900,000 tons of it are under water, so we only see about one tenth of the whole structure. :faint2: | |

Isn't that amAzing?! I would have liked to have seen that too Savannah! Maybe they'll repeat it...if you ever see it again Rob, let us know...I just didn't get on here in time last night. My hubby usually check History channel every evening, but my son had a friend over and they were playing video games. Last year was the 50th anniversary of the Mighty Mac---I caught one special on it---maybe Discovery? Can't remember, and I didn't see the whole thing. We just went up to Mackinaw City, and the boys wanted to go across the bridge again, but it's like a 40 minute drive over and back again, and we'd already driven sooooooo far from Traverse City! Maybe next year! “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
