| I absolutely loved this episode!!! it is by far one of my favorites!!!!! I loved what happened while Isaiah was taking care of the Ingalls girls. From the snake soup to the hole in the roof from the gunshot to Isaiah tying Carrie to the roof while fixing the gunshot hole, I laughed at this episode alot!!! | |

| Good ol' Mr. Edwards! I don't even think he would have to talk to make you laugh. I think that his expressions would be enough to tell you what's going on! I love the snake part! That's hilarious. "Come on! Eat up! It'll put hair on your chest." "I don't think I want hair on my chest." "Oh, uh, right." Then a big later after the girls say they really aren't very hungry. Mr. E. "Oh, well that's all right. It'll keep 'til tomorrow." Laura: "Oh, it will?" Mr. E "Now, if your Pa comes right out and asks, 'Say, Edwards, you didn't shoot a whole in the roof did you', I'll just come out clean." They did such an excellent job with Mr. Edwards. They always made him a consistent hick! I like the part with Ma and Pa in Mankato, though I think the play went a bit far... I love the music that's heard in this episode! Awesome! | |

| Yeah, this was a great one. In addition to the funny scenes others have mentioned, I also like the scene where Mr. Edwards attempts to read The Three Bears to Carrie. His version goes something like this -- "Well, you see, seems there was these three bears. One of 'em was an ornery-lookin' cuss..." Carrie interrupts with, "No, no, no! Once upon a time!" Laura informs Mr. Edwards that he needs to read the story as it's actually written because "kids are funny that way." Not wanting to admit that he can't read, Mr. Edwards passes the book to Laura and challenges her to read it. Laura gives him a look that says, "You can't be serious." She reads the first page and starts to hand the book back to Mr. Edwards, who responds with something like, "Well go on, keep readin'! Betcha can't. Looks like it gets harder to me." Come to think of it, maybe that's when Laura gives Mr. Edwards the "you can't be serious" look. | |

| I'd forgotten that Jack wouldn't touch the snake stew! I think it was Mary or Laura that was brave enough to try the stew, and I laughed when Isaiah told Laura that the stew would put hair on her chest! | |

They did that same gag with Bandit when Albert tried to cook supper. I'm not sure which episode that was. It might have been "Oleson Versus Oleson".

| this episode was funny, especially when Mr. Edwards nailed Carrie's dress to the roof, when Mr. Edwards made the snake soup and told Laura it would put hair on her chest, and when Mr. Edwards accidentally shot the hole in the roof of the house! those were my three favorite parts of this one |

| I agree with everyone; this is a really funny episode. I loved watching Mr. Edwards running the household. Caroline worrying about her kids was funny too (especially at the play). |

| I have to say that I am very happy Hallmark has put this on at night because it is allowing me to watch as much as I can of the show again without having to pull out the DVD's. So, when I knew this episode was on last night, everything else had to stop until it was done. - carolineingalls wrote:

I LOVE that scene! I just love how nicely Charles smiles at Caroline and then how he expression changes when she goes to sleep. It is great! In fact, I always say that this is one of my top favorite episodes because of Michael Landon's facial expressions. Just watch him as he watches her while they are watching the play! Great acting right there! Then there is the play. What were the odds that it would be about that? I always loved the voices of the actors in that play. I love the lines in the play and the way they delivered them. It is so funny. Best part will always be when Mr. Edwards nails Carrie to the roof, though. That is just classic. And why did they ALL have to get on Edwards' back?? I love it when Caroline wants them to tell her what happened and the look Mr. Edwards gives them as they walk past him to go into the house. This is the sort of episode where I can't see how anyone could dislike it! Side thought here. I know why Caroline didn't get that bonnet, but it always bothered me that she didn't. She looked so pretty in it and I would've loved her to be able to show it off in front of Mrs. Oleson.

| This is a nice funny episode....good to have one like this in there since so many others in season one seem to be more tear-jerker types. I enjoy just having a more fun episode every once in a while. | |
