| I really like Mr. Hansen, and I think it would have been nice to have an episode feature him a bit more, like they had one episode that really featured Doc Baker. I cannot remember an episode that really features Mr. Hansen except maybe the one when the people return to Walnut Grove after they lived in Winoka. | |

| Harriet and Nels were very well suited as actors in these roles. He said except for a slight disagreement in the beginning (she liked directing other actors) they got along very well and it shows. The timing, looks, etc. are marvelous.
At times, Harriet was horrible, but other times, they showed a sensitive side to help you understand her. The way she was brought up, her failed love affair with the preacher, how sad she was when the Ingall's were leaving, and when she thought she'd leave them, she really did like them, and when things were really bad, as in the mass illness's or the blizzard, she didn't bat an eye giving out supplies. Even with the blind school, she softened and so what if she wanted a huge plaque. : )
That's why I didn't understand Nancy..I feel the writers were wrong about her, you have to have something redeemable to be loved, and they never gave her anything. Other people who were horrible had days or episodes that showed a more human response. I actually can't watch many with her without wanting to fast forward.

| Mrs.Oleson should of had the eggs dumped on her head. Charles couldn't stop laughing about Nels getting eggs dumped on his head. Mr.Hanson thought Dr.Baker was out of his mind for suggesting he try and court Mrs.Oleson. | |

And I can add that Nels really LOVED Hariet, a fact who seems it's not important, when it's the only important thing in a couple of married people . Vanesa.

| Yes, Nels did love Harriet for better or in his case, worse (lol) Even when he had his flirtation and came home, how they bonded, Harriet trying so hard, taking a walk together, you could see the chemistry. Another time, with Willie's wedding, their dance, you could see, they weren't alike, but they found something in each other to love.

I’m so glad they gave us some of Harriet’s history throughout the series: her parents thinking she would be a better catch if she owned a business; as you mentioned, her earlier engagement (wonder if it came before or after she owned her business); and how Nels’s mother thought it would ruin his life if he married Harriet—which couldn’t be very easy for her. It’s easy to see how she became who she was, and how that other side to her came out only upon occasion. - littlehouselover wrote:

I agree. She started out as a sympathetic character, and it looked like they were trying to mold her character into a better person in the first episode (mermaid tank), but then they went off in another direction and let her get away with everything under the sun. She was despicable and somewhat psychotic.

| LOL...he did have some great one liners. I think they really helped make LHOP a great show, you needed balance and they supplied it. | |

| Some of the greatest lines in Little House History! Even though I have the DVDs, I watch this over and over on Hallmark....... Quite possibly, the funniest lines ever written on Little House...Hilarious! "Albert, do you REALLY think you are old enough to know what love is?" "I must be Pa. I love you, I have for a long time." | |

| I had recorded this one off of COZI-TV this morning and just finished watching it. They didn't let us see the actual scene of Mr. Hansen courting Mrs. Oleson! They have SO MANY commercials! But we knew that he was going to try because they did show Doc Baker talking to him about it.
Anyway, I do love that we see the Olesons do truly love one another, despite all the bickering.
Cracks me up how Willie pushes Laura away when she tries to put her arm around him. Willie even didn't want to finish his meal in this episode.....he must have really, really been upset about the impending divorce!
