Our television stations come from Toledo. Last week the Extreme Makeover team was in Toledo to build a new home for a Toledo firefighter who has 11 children (3 his own, 7 or 8 adopted. Sorry, I didn't get all the details. The news only mentioned 3 biological sons and 7 boys adopted from Haiti. So I don't know if they have a daughter of their own or adopted one). I didn't get to see as much about the build on the news as I would have liked to, but it was interesting to see how they build a house in 106 hours. They had all the volunteers they needed on the first day. All of the neighbors were offered hotel rooms for the week, but they all chose to stay. Cameras were mounted on neighbors roofs. They had shuttle buses to bring people in to watch. People were asked to bring supplies to send to Haiti since they were hit with a hurricane. It was interesting to hear some of the services that were donated for the workers. They had people to give massages, and a bakery donated 1200 cookies. It was interesting to learn about some of the behind the scenes type things like how production gets in the way of construction sometimes. Also, after the house was revealed to the family, the family had to spend the night in a hotel so that they could finish up with production. I enjoyed seeing how the show is put together. I believe they said the show will air in November. It will be interesting to see what the house looks like on the inside. They weren't allowed to show that on the news.
