Well, it's that time of year again! I think it's safe to say that for some of us, it's hit, and it's here to stay for awhile.
Let's post our pretty winter scene pics here!

This is Big Bear, California.......I used to go there in the winter to play in the snow, then drive 20-30 minutes back home to warm back up.....Sometimes, you could go from the snow covered ground down to the sand covered beach......Sometimes I really miss my home state of California, but I really love the 4 seasons that I get here in Arkansas........

Over the river and through the wood, to grandmother's house we go...
Don't laugh, but it is my dream to go on a sleigh ride. I just love the nostalgia of it....

One of my friends is a missionary in Brazil, and that's one of the hardest things for her. She grew up here in Michigan, and she misses having an old-fashioned white Christmas.

This is a picture from the right hand side of our backyard. It's hard to tell from this photo, but it's a great hill for sledding.

Do you remember me showing pictures of my friend and I at Greenfield Village last year, at Christmas time? Well they used to have sleigh rides, but they ended up paving the roads in the village and didn't want to destroy them with the sleighs, so they did away with that. I was so excited because I thought I might finally get a chance to do it. :sad5: I'm really picky about the type of sleigh I go on and where, too...it needs to be an 'old time' setting, like a village! LOL! Silly me! I'm thinking Anne of Green Gables here, and a tv movie I watched years ago that was about these people who lived in this old fashioned village. That would be my dream too, but the hubby reminded me that I might not get internet access! :haha:
Cheryl, what a view you have!!! I LOVE that picture of your backyard! Ah....TREES!!! And so cool that you have sledding right out your back door for the lil' princesses!

No, I don't remember those pics. Feel free to share them again. It's a bummer that they've stopped. I wonder if Sturbridge Village up here does them. Our church certainly has the land to do them, but I don't know if they have access to sleighs.
I'm aching to write another winter LHOP fan fic with Laura and Almanzo on a sleigh ride. Maybe by Christmas I'll be able to do that.
We've been lucky with our backyard because not only do we live on a cul-de-sac, but a lot of the area behind our house is wetlands, so no one can build on it. We also have a pond if we walk into the woods a bit. We take the girls ice skating on it, though last year the weather didn't allow us to do that at all. We didn't have a lot of frigid days to set the ice and by the time we did have a few really cold days it had snowed, so the ice was too choppy to skate on. It was impossible for us to run our hose out to the pond to slick it over. I'm hoping this year will be different.

That sounds great! So when you say 'another', does that mean you already have a sleigh ride one out there? Please link it if so.
Your backyard/wetlands area sounds awesome Cheryl...I would LOVE that!
Here's the link to my Greenfield Village pics...we may go again soon for my bday coming up. I just love Christmas time there!

Thanks Cheryl. And I'd love to do a table top tree in my foyer. I do two trees, a 'traditional' one in the family room and an 'elegant' one in the living room. I know, you've got me beat! But where there is a space, I would put a tree too!
I'll check that story out soon. Thanks for posting it!
