Harland Sanders wasn't born until 1890 and didn't open his first restaurant untiul 1930. Here's a history of KFC if you're interested: http://www.kfc.com/about/history.asp I enjoy reading this stuff.

| This one was kind of a comic relief, goofball of an episode. Don't you think? | |

- I do think that it was supposed to be Colonel Sanders. Even if the dates didn't fit (which is very typical of LH) it was a "joke" for us, the viewers, to get. I think this was done in a couple other episodes. It was a reference to KFC and how they made millions just making chicken. (One meal)
yes.....I found this about the episode too "The old gentlemen in white at the end of the episode was obviously meant to remind us of Col. Sanders - founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken. It's a cute moment, but the appearance is anachronistic. The real Sanders wasn't even born until 1890 - a few years after this episode takes place - much less an old man." “I am beginning to learn that it is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.” ― Laura Ingalls Wilder

| I thought this was a funny episode, you are supposed to suspend reality to accept certain things. I liked the tongue in cheek reference to Colonel Sanders at the end...I'm sure many thought that was a daft idea! I have read people who look up exact dates when KFC started, etc. but that's not the point, LHOP was never a history book, but "around those dates" : ) I think they just wanted to remind us how silly that must have sounded when it started.

| This episode made me kinda sad. I know it was meant to be silly, but like everything else in Little House, it's of an "era gone by" and we, as America, have lost all those hometown restaurants. Now it's pretty much all chains. The closest thing we have to a hometown restaurant is Shari's, and many other towns can say the same. It might just be me, but episodes like this make me sad. | |

| I thought this episode was comical but I wondered where all the customers came from. Most locals were farmers who probably on the poor side. | |

Don't ever think its you Jessica. We've lost a lot......I remember shopping in the neighborhood market when I was a kid, eating at the neighborhood diner. There was something special about that and we don't have it any more. You are right on! "Albert, do you REALLY think you are old enough to know what love is?" "I must be Pa. I love you, I have for a long time."

| In all the times I've watched this episode I never realized until earlier this week when I watched it again that "Colonel Sanders" of KFC made an appearance at the end of the episode. How I never realized this before I don't know, since the KFC commercials are on so often. But it was a funny thing to realize and definitely a funny ending to a good episode.
I liked this episode so much because again, it was a rare instance when someone stood up to Harriet instead of letting her bully them. Nels and Charles opening their restaurant in the Oleson's home was great!
