Oooh! First real sign of spring!

Other than the obvious warmer temperatures, the first real sign of spring around here is the sight of the first Robin of the season. And as I was out walking this morning, I saw a lovely, fat little Robin singing its heart out up in the tree. And just outside my window, I hear another one! (Unless the first Robin took a particular liking to me and followed me home. batEyes

) At any rate, the first Robin of the season just made his appearance! And the air smells delicious. I love spring!

Oh That must be so nice to see a Robin I have't seen one this year but i did see two Blue Jays the other day

Neat! However... anyone can say they've seen a robin. We'd really like to see some photographic evidence. batEyes

No telling when we'll see our first one. We really don't have much bare ground showing yet.

Do your Blue Jays leave for the winter and then return with the better weather? Those are such striking birds!

Yes Savannah I think they leave for the Winter at least i don't see them in the middle of the Winter i have't fill our Bird Feeder all Winter cause of the STUBID Squrrel eats evreything but the Blue Jays always came and use our Bird Feeder

The Blue Jays and Cardinals, along with several other kinds of birds, all stick around through the winter here. They look so stunning against a freshly fallen snow! But the Robins hightail it out of here once it's really cold, and they don't come back until spring has a real chance of staying around. So the first Robin is almost "magical". grinsmiley

Too bad he wasn't wearing any green for St. Patrick's Day.

I never should have doubted your robin sighting. Right afterward I took Casey for a walk on a trail road, my car got stuck in the ice and slush, and I had to call a tow truck. Karma.

I'm still waiting for my first Robin-sighting...can't wait!! And what's fun is, we have a large covered front porch, and about every other year we have a nest in the big grapevine wreath I put out there. It's so awesome getting to watch the baby birds grow! We didn't have a nest last year, so I'm hoping this is the year!!

I saw our first robin here in Pennsylvania about a month and a half ago... I doubted the little guys at the time, but it is beginning to feel more and more like Spring every day. Applause

Oh, that's great, Debbie! We never see robins before March here. It's rarely warm enough for them to be here before mid-March at least. A year ago today we had a blizzard, as a matter of fact. (And I was driving in it!) I think it was April before I saw my first robin then!

Saw my first robin today! It was hopping between snowbanks in the yard a few houses down from me.

Oh, those trees are in my neighbor's yard. They're jackpines, but he trims them. He's a dog groomer who specializes in poodles. batEyes
