We LIVED for Saturday morning cartoons!!! These days, kids can watch cartoons 24/7 and never have a problem finding a channel that has them on. Sorry younger folks....it just isn't the same. We would watch cartoons as daddy would be making waffles. He had that magic touch with the waffle iron, turned out 'just' right!!!

*Sigh..* Yep... those times are gone, I am so happy I was able to experience it. My very first favorite cartoon has to be Heidi though. I fell IN LOVE with that series and thus I grew to love anime cartoons like Heidi. Here is a youtube clip of the very first episode just like I saw it. It's in spanish with the Spain dialect.
But yeah, those Saturdays mornings were great!

I know what you mean, Rhonda. One of my friends said that she wished that a certain chocolate that Russell Stover makes would be made available all year long instead of just around Easter. But to me it makes it something special this way. I look forward to being able to have it. It's the same way with the cartoon programming......Now that it's available whenever you want, the children don't exhibit quite the same eager anticipation as when it was just once a week on Saturday mornings.
I'm looking for just the right treat to bring to the party, but I haven't found it yet!

Carol, I've never seen that cartoon before! I'm going to have to look that up on youtube and see if they have any more there.
Edited to add: I found something to bring to the party!
I know it's surprising that I'd bring something chocolate.

The forum looks great Carol!
Saturday mornings usually started before cartoons because of the Kroftt Supershow--The Lost Saucer, Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, Electro Woman and Dyna Girl, etc.--but some of my favorites were always Looney Tunes and Scooby Doo.
My girls actually love Scooby Doo, Tom & Jerry, and the Smurfs thanks to the Cartoon Network and another station that runs some of the older cartoons.
Here I come to save the day... Mighty Mouse is on the way....
Felix the Cat, The wonderful, wonderful cat! Whenever he gets in a fix, He reaches into his bag of tricks!
Felix the Cat The wonderful, wonderful cat You'll laugh so much your sides will ache Your heart will go pitter pat Watching Felix, the wonderful cat!
I brought some cheese for the critters and some fruit for us.

So true. My older son, who is almost 19, did grow up with "Saturday morning cartoons"....my younger son, who is 14, did not. There was nothing like the anticipation of Saturday morning in our house! My dad and I loved Looney Tunes...I didn't like them all, but loved Sylvester and Tweety, and also Roadrunner and Wylie E Coyote....good stuff right there. I never missed the Flintstones or Scooby, and I liked the Jetsons too. My son's favorite was definitely Johnny Quest. That was a great show!
Well, I'm going to bring some PJ's to the party, as well as some pancakes. It's a little late in the day now, but that was what my Saturday mornings consisted of---PJs and pancakes!
Hurry and get 'em before they get cold!

Isn't that a little too small to have come from Scooby? He is a big dog, ya know.

Yes... very true. All they have to do is check on youtube or just turn on the TV and watch what they want to watch. That feeling of "waiting" is gone. I've mentioned this before... but back in the day, there were so many neat cartoons to see that my brother, cousin and I had a "cartoon meeting" on Friday evening LOL, We would have the TV Guide section of the newspaper and vote for which cartoons we would see. We only had one TV but it was nice that way because we were all together.

Oh it's such a darling anime series! I couldn't find an English version of it.
That's okay! I like seeing how much of it I can understand.

What I meant was that maybe Scooby-Doo's master had tied those glorious truffles up in a bag and attached it to his collar so that he could deliver it here to the prairie in honor of the Cartoon Weekend.
Boy, some people have suspicious minds.
