PostSubject: Digital day   Digital day EmptyFri Jun 12, 2009 1:12 pm

So today's the day.....No more analog, only digital channels for tv. (In the U.S.) My tv is just old enough so that it can't receive the digital channels without a converter, so I went ahead and bought a converter. But because I live in a valley, the converter isn't receiving any signals. So this morning I went out on the roof and hooked up an antennae - Which only succeeded in scaring my poor neighbor across the road, when my ladder suddenly started to sway back and forth with me on it. batEyes All I could see was my ladder crashing to the ground, and me hanging from the roof by my fingertips. Laughing At least I have strong fingers! All the drama - and still no digital channels, though. I may have the wrong kind of antennae. It doesn't make too much difference, because the only thing I watch on tv is the news - but I'd like to be able to catch some of the baseball games!

Are the rest of you all set for the digital change-over?

my dad has been trying to buy a new tv for three years now, and he waites until cirtuit city was going out of business, then he bough one. So were all covered. Hehe Thats aweful that you did all that work for nothing. Yikes!! You almost pulled a Tom and Jerry there with your latter. How far away from the ground is your roof??

You're awful brave there, Savannah pray . I'm sure you were doing some praying that the ladder stayed put. It would have to have a ground level roof to do what you did, lol.

Spring is finally here, the lovely pink blooms on the "spray" tree outside my window are gone leaving a beautiful willow.

:shy: It isn't quite as bad as it sounds - it's only the first story roof. My younger brother asked me to promise not to go on the second story roof.....He was a little distressed about the idea of me being up there, and he so rarely gets upset about anything, I promised him that I wouldn't. He said that he'd come over and climb up there himself and hook the antennae up for me instead.....But I don't like the idea of him being up there. Laughing

I hope you get the problem worked out, Savannah.

We have cable, so we were all set for the change-over.

Last November, my daycare mom's mother actually went out on her roof to hang Christmas lights, with no one at home, and fell two stories. She is VERY lucky that she didn't break her neck! She broke everything else!! She had to have metal rods put in her back and everything. Her hubby had just gotten up North with some buddies to go hunting, and got the call that his wife had fallen off the roof! Can you imagine?! He said later he was too worried to be upset with her....ahem, THAT was for later. Wink She's doing fine now...I just saw her about a month ago and she's almost back to normal. OH, and they live in the country, off a main road where the house is set quite a ways back....she laid there for quite some time before anyone even noticed her.

I know your 'escapade' wasn't nearly as serious or dangerous Savannah, it just made me think of it. Wink

Hope you get your TV woes figured out soon!

Yikes! How scary, Amy! I had to laugh a bit, though - not about the seriousness of her situation...but when I had mentioned putting my antennae on the second story roof to get better reception, my brother started telling me horror stories about people who had fallen off their roof and gotten killed, or paralyzed or hospitalized. (And we did actually have a pastor here early this year who died when he fell off his ladder from a single-story roof. Blue ) So anyway....I figured that if it worried my "baby" brother that much, I shouldn't purposely scare him out of a few years of his life. Wink

I'm glad that the lady you mentioned is doing well now. What a fright for her and her family!

You should be able to pick up digital with a regular antenna. We didn't have cable in Ohio, and when we got an HD TV we got all the digital channels just fine using the same antenna.
