Did you hear about rapper Kanye West's little stunt at the Video Music Awards? Taylor Swift won an award for best video, and during her speech, Kanye came onstage, took the mic from her, and basically said that Beyonce should have won. Sheesh, this guy's a twerp.
But Beyonce is a class act. Later when she won an award, she invited Taylor up onstage so she could finish her speech.

WOW. I mean....WOW. :sad5: POOR Taylor Swift...she was so surprised and thrilled to receive her award, only to have her thunder stolen from her like that. Good grief, was he high or something?! I just can't believe anyone in their right mind would do something like that. So what did Taylor do after that? Did she say anything else or did she just walk off the stage? Beyonce IS a class act and I'm sure she was ready to kill Kanye. What a JERK.

I think he claims he'd had a few drinks.

I didn't see the show, so I'm not sure. I just heard about it on the news this morning and found the clip on YouTube.
All I could think was, if Kanye had to pick on a country singer, it's a shame it wasn't Toby Keith.

I watched another clip and it looks like she just kind of nodded at the audience and walked off. I'm sure she was seeing that her time was up too. She got quite the applause/standing O from the audience when she walked out after Beyonce called her out.
You know, I kind of like rap, and I have to admit that Kanye has quite a talent---I actually DO like his music. But I can't help but hope that this little stunt takes him off a few pedestals. I'm sure this will reflect in some record sales. Seems he is way too full of himself.

I know he has a history of throwing tantrums when he doesn't win awards. I remember seeing a clip from the European MTV Awards, and when another band won, he went onstage, grabbed the mic, and announced that, by not giving him the award, the show lost all its credibility.

I've never heard of him, but he obviously knows nothing about being a gentleman. What a terribly thoughtless thing to do. And I don't know who Beyonce is, but that was really classy of her to try and make sure that young woman had her special moment at the awards.

Yes, very full of himself. Pictures of him on the red carpet with his girlfriend show him carrying a rather large bottle of alcohol that was half empty when they took the shot.

I didn't even see this happen or watch the video that Rob posted, but doing that to Taylor Swift was so immature!! She certainly deserves a public apology!

I was shocked to see this happen when I was watching the awards last night. Kanye is so stupid, I never liked him. Yes, he has a history of throwing childish tantrums... I felt so bad for Taylor, she was too shocked to say anything else, Jay Z's DJ saw that she was being comforted by friends and family backstage, her and her mother were crying. She had to compose herself though because she had to perform right after.
What ticks me off is that Kanye acts like he's the king or something... he was walking around with some open bottle of alcohol... if it would have been another person, they would have taken the bottle away from him, but no, Kanye decides to show off and nobody does anything about it! Well... when he went back to sit down after he had ruined Taylor's first moment... the crowed booed him and he flipped everyone off... finally he then got his whiny butt kicked off the VMAs! Ha! Pink was really upset with him, if she could of, she would have kicked his whiny butt! LOL
I was really proud of Beyonce (that's why I've always liked her!), when she won and she said she remembered how SHE felt when winning an award at 17 yrs old while being in Destiny's Child and then let Taylor come out. Two great girls!

That is horrible. I think Taylor Swift stinks in IMHO, but that was just uncalled for. I would never do something like that. Kanye was drinkin a huge bottle of booze on the red carpet and was passing it around inside Radio City Music Hall. I think Kanye is a musical genious, I have several of his cd's, so this really upsets me.

I love Taylor Swift and she is a very talented young woman. I felt so bad for her when this happened & I think Kanye is a big jerk. Really, he hasn't had any "hits" in awhile, and I never did like him.
I think they said a couple years ago he voiced his "opinion" by interrupting Gretchen Wilson onstage. Maybe the award's shows will do the right thing and ban him from attending them.

LOL, you got that right! If Kanye could do this to himself--- :adore: ----he would!!

For real! And I'm sure they had security back there...like Carol said, it's like he just owns the place and they let him do what he wants! What the heck?! He has a history, he needs to be banned.

Well, I am very familiar with her because my girls listen to her songs all the time. She's got a wonderful voice, though some of her videos are a bit odd. I never understood the appeal of the one for Single Ladies.

My husband and I are watching the new Jay Leno show, and Kanye just came on as a guest and apologized for his "rude" actions.

How much I wished that Taylor would have grabbed her Moonman and knocked Kanye on the right side of his "bad haircut head" and sent him sliding off the stage in a zig zag direction! Then as he landed on the floor, I wish someone would have grabbed the empty bottle of cognac he had been carrying and broken it on the left side of his head and he'd be done for the night!

I have no clue as to who this guy is, especially since my boys are no longer at home, listening to all their music, but our local news showed the clip of Kayne on the Leno show making his apology, then showed the clip of him at the VMAs. Afterwards, the newswoman said that a local radio station announced they will no longer play any of his songs.......just goes to show you how you can damage your career in the blink of an eye (and the opening of the mouth).

FoxNews is reporting that President Obama called West a "jackass" in an off-the-record comment during an interview that got leaked--as they always do.

Kudos to that radio station!! I hope they're not the only ones!

That is awesome!! LOLOL!! Never thought I'd say this, but 3 cheers for Obama! (But it was off the record, so it is wrong that we know about it. That said, I'm glad that we do! ).
So he says he's going to take some time off to 'reflect' huh? Mmm hmm. His apologies come too little too late IMO, and I hope that's how most of the public feels. He obviously thrives on attention and hopefully he'll finally get a clue. I read one Youtube reviewer's comment that said, "This guy just seriously needs Jesus Christ." I have to agree there! And LOL, if the president of the United States calling you a jackass doesn't turn your life around, I'm not sure what would!
Question: To those of you who saw him on Leno, what was the audience reaction to him when he came on stage?
