My sister, who lives in the upper dessert in California, said the moon was SO bright!!! We had snow clouds here, so I didn't get to view it, but behind the clouds was a very bright glowing effect going on.....so I know the moon had to have been REALLY bright....

awwww I missed it. But with all of our clouds I doubt I would have been able to anyway. I hate missing stuff like that. I love to take pictures of the moon.

There's another beautiful moon out there tonight! Not sure if it looks a big and bright as the other night (I missed that one), but it sure was pretty. I can't help but think of the movie "Moonstruck" with Cher when I see a huge full moon----"La bella luna"!

Super Full Moon to Shine on Saturday
There's a full moon tomorrow but it won't be just any old full moon. It'll be bigger and brighter.
It will appear larger as it makes its closest approach to Earth in nearly 20 years.
Scientists estimate the "supermoon" rising in the east at sunset will appear 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter at its peak.
It will be more than 221,000 miles away — the closest to Earth since March, 1993.

Oooooooh! Thanks for letting us know! I'm definitely going to be watching for it. . . . . So. . . . if it's 14% larger and 30% brighter, does that make it 44% more romantic? OR, will the especially full moon make us 44% more crazy?? . . . . Stay tuned for more on . . . As the Prairie Rolls

Spring is finally here, the lovely pink blooms on the "spray" tree outside my window are gone leaving a beautiful willow.

Just waiting for the sun to set! It's a beautiful bright sunny day here and I can't wait to see it! My son is going to get his home-made telescope out so we can take an even closer look.
Thanks for the reminder Rob!

Sure.
Your son built his own scope, Amy? How cool! Did he grind the lenses himself, and all that technical stuff? Do you know how big the primary lens is?
Thanks for the video, Carol!

It was hazy out there for awhile, but it just cleared and it is VERY bright, that's for sure! It's just not as 'big' as I thought it would be....but it is blindingly bright! Pretty wild.
Nick had to make the telescope itself for a school project, but no, we had the lens made by a local optometrist. (This was maybe a 4th or 5th grade project). It's really very cool and works great! The diameter of the lens is about an inch and a half wide, but that's about all I know about it. We have talked about making a tripod for it, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
And Savannah, "Moon River" is my parents' 'song'.

Ah, it's a lovely song, isn't it, Amy? I'm really glad that the sky cleared enough for you to be able to see the super moon, too.
And here's a more classical song in the moon theme. *dreamy sigh* These moon songs . . . . Anyway...

Ahhh, those are lovely, Savannah.
This might be my favorite version of Moon River. It's by the Christian band, The Innocence Mission.
