Ooooh! Thanks for letting us know. Any idea what hour it's supposed to be in?

I'll have to watch it on their website. I was having breakfast. Did you watch it, Rob? Was it good?

I just turned it on and the cast will be on again right after the commercial break.

I saw the last few minutes. It was pretty good. Just reminiscing. Christopher Plummer wasn't there; just Julie and the "kids." How many Von Trapp kids were in the movie? There were seven here. Would that be all of them?

Yes, 7 kids.

Thanks Rob. My friend called me to let me know, so I was able to see it. It was basically a repeat of everything they said on Oprah. I wish they would have shared other interesting things---I am sure there are many, but it was all the same stuff. Not that they're interviewed all the time, but it seems like the interviewers would have come up with something different than what Oprah had. (and a lot of the stuff they've shared were shared on the collector's dvd as well).

Yes, I agree. They do that all the time on various talk shows. They ask the same questions, and show the same clips. It would be very easy to have a variety of different questions to ask, especially where the Sound of Music is concerned.

Well, since I didn't get to see the Oprah reunion, I was completely enthralled. Seriously! I enjoyed the whole thing start to finish. And I love it that they all seem to have such good relationships with one another. There wasn't any kind of underlying tension or meanness.....There was a very easy, relaxed feeling among them, and you could see that they genuinely like one another. I'd have been quite disappointed if they got together and it was obvious that they utterly hated one another. And how cool that they're writing a book! Now I want to start looking for clips and pictures to sketch. And I want to watch The Sound of Music again.
Rob, thanks again for the heads-up about them being on!!

It's really nice to hear that they consider each other "family." I'm glad that they remained so close for the past 45 years. Too bad Chris couldn't be there for this interview.

I know, that was a bummer. He really is delightful---you would have loved him Savannah!

Well, I have to share my "Sound of Music" experience today!!! One of our theaters in town is playing "classics", for $4.00, and The Sound of Music played today!!!! My mom and I went to see it together!! OH....MY....GOSH. Talk about amAzing!! I wasn't expecting to be SO moved, considering I've seen this so many times. But....WOW.
We viewed this in the way it was meant to be viewed----on the big screen. I have the digitally remastered collector's DVD, and you'd think after seeing that umpteen times (LOL) that nothing would be as awesome. But certain scenes just cannot be captured: The opening scene (um, you can imagine---goosebumps galore!)....the "Do Re Me" scene with the kids throughout Salzburg....the wedding scene....the final "Climb Every Mountain" scene. The scope of these scenes on the big screen are just....incredible!!
Have any of you heard of theaters doing this? I was completely clueless that this was being done! Gone with the Wind is playing next! And they're doing "cult classics" too, like Sixteen Candles and ET and The Goonies. Just so cool!
Anyway, I just had to share with all my fellow Sound of Music appreciators! I know you all 'get' the magnitude of this opportunity!

Ooooooooooh that sounds so wonderful, Amy!! I've heard of theaters running "retro" nights. I can't even imagine being able to watch The Sound of Music on the big screen!! WOW!
I'm in, too!

That is cool Amy!!!
I think I felt just as happy when I saw the movie "Grease" at the Drive-In Theater. It was 50s night and the last night before the Drive-in theater closed for good. People went all out though. Some came in 50s dress. Older people started did what was popular back in the 50s, while waiting for the movie to begin, they flashed their car headlights, honked their horns, and streaked their spotlights across the screen and people would cheer. The fireworks at the end of the movie topped it off. It was a fun night.
In town we have a theater that plays movies like that. Last year they had Sixteen Candles, The Goonies, etc. On May 20th, they are showing American Graffiti and the following day, FlashCadillac, which was a music group that CAME OUT in the movie will be there to play.
The Fox Theater
Inside...
We had a Mearles Drive-In about 10 minutes from the Fox Theater. Too bad it's out of business now... I did go there when it was open and tasted the best smoothie! Here is a poster they made of it:
This is how it looks like now :(
Like I said, the day after the movie is shown, FlashCadillac will be there to play.
Here they are in American Graffiti

Carol, that 50's night sounds SO neat!! Grease would be perfect to see in the drive-in! I wish our drive-in hadn't closed up too. And that before and after pic of the diner you posted is so sad.
