Hey everyone! It's true that you can know more about people by their taste in music. I thought it would be nice for us to share some of the songs that have composed the soundtrack of our lives... so far Each person will talk about a song which they love or they hate, just any song or piece of music that is connected to you somehow. Please only say one song per post. Also, if possible, please post a link or a youtube video of the song.
Also, give us a description of how the song is connected to you. I think we can learn a lot from each other this way!
Okay? I will start!
MOONLIGHT SONATA
I love love love this piece of music! I first heard this song the first time I bought a CD player in the early 90s. I bought my first CD and it was a Nature's Symphony album with classical music. I think I heard this song 3 times the first time I heard it and it is what made me want to learn how to play the Piano. I just feel so many things when I hear it. Anyway, here it is... Moonlight Sonata.

Rascal Flatts, The Broken Road.
It is the lack of Christianity that has brought us where we are. Not a lack of churches or religious forms but of the real thing in our hearts. LIW.....Words From a Fearless Heart

Come on people, let's talk about music! Dont' be shy. Simply tells us about a song (preferably post the youtube video to it) and let us know why it means a lot to you.
Another song that is in my "life soundtrack" is a Spanish song called "Amigo", Friend, sang by this this Brazilian singer called Roberto Carlos. My aunt's husband was a guitar player and when we lived in L.A., almost every afternoon, he would play the guitar and teach me and my cousin a song. So, he taught us "Amigo" and my little cousin (he was 6 yrs old and I was 10) and I knew the song very well by heart. One afternoon, all of us at the house (9 in total) went out to dinner at this restaurant where they had a live band. We were eating and the band asked if anyone wanted to go up there and sing, so of course my aunt's husband tells me and my cousin that this would be a great opportunity to sing "Amigo". We were mortified! lol But, we wanted to show off at the same time... hahhaa... so we went up there. We started singing and our voices sounded nervous, specially because everyone was looking at this 10 year old girl and 6 year old boy sing, even the cooks and servers came out from the kitchen to watch us. We were nervous at first but as we got through the song, we enjoyed it and towards the end people were clapping. LOL My cousin and I went back to the table and one of the band member says "That's how they start in show business people!" Yeah right! LOL
Here is the video of the song and the the lyrics... in English of the song below
"Friend"
You are by bosom brother, a real friend Who is always with me, on every path and journey Despite being a (grown up) man, you still have a child’s soul Who gives me his friendship, respect and love I remember we spent together some very hard moments And you never changed; no matter how hard the winds would blow Your heart is a house whose doors are open You are really the most certain in uncertain times
In certain difficult moments of life We look for someone who may help us find our way out And that word of strength and faith you gave me Gives me the certitude you were always beside me You are my bosom friend on each journey Smile and festive hug in each arrival You tell me such deep truths in clear sentences You are really the most certain in uncertain times
I don’t need say all that which I’m telling you But it’s good to feel you are my great friend I don’t need say all that which I’m telling you But it’s good to feel I have a great friend
**** Anyway, I can't hear this song without it taking me back in time to that time my cousin and I sang it. lol

Fun topic, Carol! I could talk about tons of songs, but one that came to my mind as I started reading through your posts is the song "Collide", by Howie Day. It was popular a few years ago - around 2005 I think, which was the time my husband and I started dating. The words seemed very fitting:
I'm quiet you know You make a first impression I've found I'm scared to know I'm always on your mind
Even the best fall down sometimes Even the stars refuse to shine Out of the back you fall in time I somehow find You and I collide
And here's the video:
"It is still best to be honest and truthful; to make the most of what we have; to be happy with simple pleasures and to be cheerful and have courage when things go wrong."

This is a song I heard on my first date w/ my husband back in 1995. I was 15 @ the time.. We were riding to the mall with his dad when this song came on the radio.
