| Good news, Lori! I'm really happy she is doing so well. Sometimes, we adults uses to worry too much. Children could be very cruel, but also very friendly. Is just life...So happy that Erin find school interesting a she was welcomed there! Vanesa. | |

| She has her first Latin quiz today. I hope that goes well. She didn't have any choice with what language to take, but hopefully it will be useful for standardized tests and ACT. The principal emailed that the classes are being recorded, but I couldn't find out how to access them. I guess I will need to email her back to find out where they are. | |

| Please pray for Erin as she is again starting a new school on Tuesday. We got an email in July that the school she went to last year was closing due to few students and lack of support from the church. So she will be attending the public school in the same town as her previous school. Most of the kids from LCA are also attending the public school so she will occasionally see a few familiar faces. She is going from a school of about 26 in the high school to about 1800. That is going to be a big change! Gary took her last week to the school for orientation, and she was able to find her classes pretty easily so that was a relief. It will be a little different with the halls full though. Other than so many kids, I think this will be a good school for her. They are on trimesters, and there are lots of classes to choose from. She has 5 classes everyday, and one of them is choir, so at most she will have four academic classes. That should make studying easier on her (and me). The down side is that classes are over an hour long. She had trouble keeping focused last year for 45 min. classes. We will be having a meeting soon to see what services/accommodations she will need. She has choir with one girl from LCA and the same lunch as a boy from LCA. He has told her he wants to eat lunch with her. Erin's lunch is right after choir so I'm hoping the other girl has the same lunch too so they could all eat together. We wanted to take her to the school today to practice finding the rooms and her locker (this is the first years she has had one with a lock), but apparently the secretaries union decided they needed to day off so the school is closed. I've been working at the bookstore (and we have been busy as this is the first week of classes) or I would have taken her earlier this week. Gary called the superintendent's office today, and they said we could go to the school, and we might find a teacher or someone there, but he wouldn't know which door to try. So we will probably go sometime today just to see if we can get in so she can practice one more time before the big day. She did practice her locker combination on a lock we have, and she was doing it fine. She had difficulty with it when she tried it the first time at the school last week, so Gary was worried she would have trouble with that. Sorry this has gotten lengthy, but I'm a little nervous about this change so I could use your prayers too. Thanks. | |

| Prayers going up now, Lori. It's tough to switch schools. Katherine is in a similar situation. She is in the middle school this year and it's a lot bigger than she's used to. In addition, she's having trouble with the combination lock on her locker and she's been late for class every day since school started. I think we get more nervous about these things than they do. It's tough being a mom. Hope and pray all goes well. | |

| She is in my prayers. A new school is always a big change! Especially one so different. I have a feeling she is going to be just fine, but I completely understand your feelings. | |

| Thanks for the prayers. At least she doesn't seem nervous. I hope she is able to get through the hallways ok with so many kids. She's barely 4' 11". | |

| Wow, that IS a big change! It will take some adjusting but she'll do fine, I'm sure. It's good that she has a few friends to cling onto already. One of my sons came from a Catholic school and didn't know anyone when he started his new public high school. Lunch is the hardest...I was most worried about who he was going to sit with, so good thing that that's already figured out with Erin!
I will be praying Lori. I know that parental anxiety all too well. And you know, it's good that Erin is in choir. My boys were/are in a huge school too and kids NEED to be involved in activities to 'condense' the size of the school a bit. Most of the boys' really good friends have come from band.
Let us know how it goes! | |

| Thank you for the prayers. Yeah, Amy, I'm a little worried about lunch. Even though Luke said he'd eat with her, there will probably be about 600 kids in there so not sure if they'll find each other. | |

| She had a very good day yesterday. She said they were on the pep assembly schedule so the classes were shortened. She made it to all of her classes in time, found Luke for lunch, and didn't have too much trouble with her locker. She saw several of the former LCA kids. One of the girls from LCA saw her at assembly so she sat with her for that. Also one of her youth group leaders is a teacher at the high school so she saw her and sat with her at the assembly as well. Plus she found me pretty easily after school so she thought it was a pretty good day. No homework either! Thanks so much for praying for her. | |

I feel bad doing that, 'cause I really think that smootly is a cool word. But the law's the law. | |
