| This episode was so sad, it was one of the few that made me tear up. Yeah, I did feel bad for both Mr. Edwards and Jane, but it was good that Jane got her sight back. The talk between Laura and Mr. Edwards was really sad. | |

| It's odd that Laura said this blind was her childhood friend when we never sees her playing with Laura in any other epie than this one... Vanesa. | |

| I felt bad for Mr. Edwards in this show. I felt Michael had a thing about May/December romance since he had one with his new girl/bride.They had the one with Doc Baker and Mr. Edwards not work out though...I thought one might have. And why couldn't they meet a woman who did? So many of the men never had brides. It was hard to hear him talk about being lonely and sad. I also wondered where Matthew was during this show...they showed a lot of scenes and never said he was at school or with a friend. He also never showed him to the girl he loved so much. | |

| I watched this entire episode all the way through for the first time, it was one of the better season 9 episodes but it was still sad. Mr. Edwards sacrificed so much | |

| Did Mr. Edwards have Matthew at this point? I am only watching sporadically on COZI-TV (recording from there and watching later), so I don't know if THE WILD BOY has already happened or not.
Anyway, yes, that talk between Laura and Mr. Edwards surely was sad. It is kind of funny to me because Almanzo is older than Laura, but I guess not as much as Mr. Edwards and Jane. I'm married to a man who is significantly older than me (but not the distance in age as between Mr. Edwards and Jane), so that may bias me, but I don't think age has to necessarily be that much of a factor, although it is one thing among many to consider. There are no guarantees, though, that Jane would not have some medical issue necessitating Mr. Edwards to care for her, rather than the other way around. I also was pretty surprised when Mr. Edwards said he reckons that he's about 45 years old. Doesn't he seem much older?! Also he acts like he could not chase young children around, but I think 45 is not all that old to be a father. For me, one of the strange things would be that the children that Isaiah and Grace adopted (so presumably he still considers them to be "his children") may be the same age as Jane or close to it by now. If they ever come visit, that may seem awkward.
This one did also remind me a lot of the one with Doc Baker and the younger woman. She seemed much more mature than Jane, though, and I don't see any reason why Doc Baker and her could not have worked out as a couple. | |

| Well then that is really strange that there was no mention of Matthew! And it makes it weird for Mr. Edwards to be talking about being all alone. (And yes, I realize there is a difference between the kind of love he had for Matthew and the kind of love he had for Jane.) If they had aired this episode after Matthew went back to live with his dad or whoever he ended up with, then this episode would have been even more poignant.....and Mr. Edwards could have talked about how he always seems to end up alone and mention having just lost Matthew. | |
