- Krissy, that definitely got my attention! Then I googled "Gas prices in Canada," and found this:
“Only $1.30 a gallon for gas? I couldn’t believe my eyes,” said the American tourist at Vancouver’s Granville Island Market the other day.
“Then I found out the truth… and I gagged!”
Think gas prices are high in the U.S. right now? Come to Canada, where prices may LOOK a lot cheaper on gas-station signs — 1.30 — but are in reality much higher, and have been for years. Doing the math to convert prices is complicated.
The Toronto Globe & Mail reports that gas (occasionally called petrol here) recently hit 1.40 — gas is measured in litres in this metri-cized country — at a Vancouver station in suburban Richmond. Get out your calculator and that comes out to about $5.60 a U.S. gallon. Not cheap.
Plus, the Canadian dollar (loonie) is at an eight-year high right now — it’s worth more than a U.S. dollar — so that makes Canadian gas even more expensive now. Wow Rob, that is interesting! I had no idea! Thanks for sharing....I guess we should feel 'fortunate'? But lol, somehow I don't. | |

| WOW! It's still $2.14 up here. But we were $2.21 just the other day, so hopefully we'll be sub-$2 soon, too. | |

| I read that it's supposed to get down to $1.40 or so, and stay there for at least several years. That would be such a great blessing to families who have to drive a long distance to work! | |

| below $2 a gallon, that seems impossible! When I last got gas for my car towards the end of December I paid betwwen $2.40 - $2.60 for it, I don't remember the exact price. I'm jealous that its so much cheaper in some other parts of the country! I thought it was a big deal when it went under $3 per gallon here in CT. | |

| I remember seeing a special on the news a couple of weeks ago about drivers that were buying 'gas guzzlers' and other large vehicles while gas prices are really low. But what are they going to do if/when the prices of fuel go up again? That's why I'm happy with the small car I drive! | |
