| We have a new member of the family!! (Yes, again.) My crowntail betta, Tassleheart, suddenly died the other day. He never seemed normal actually. Bettas are supposed to last up to 2 years and I hadn't even had him a year. So, I wanted another betta. (I get lonely in my room alot and having a fish always seemed to keep me company. During the time after Tassleheart passed, I even brought Peaceful-Nez in my room, my Mom's betta because I was so lonely.) This time I got a female. She is very, very small right now. She has not even finished growing. We have to crush her food for her to even eat it. She is the cutest lil' thing ever. Her name is Valentine because she is red. She also has hints of silver and green, but you have to look real good to see that. She seems so expressive even. When we put her in her new home, she really looked around and you could see her little eyes moving and looking. It was adorable! (I know I am the doting mother, but y'all are so like family I had to tell someone! ) I will post a few photos of her when I get some. I have one on my phone but my phone never show's photos as good as it is with a regular camera. So now we are back to 9 pets. 2 bettas, 2 gerbils, 2 guinea pigs, a hamster, a cat, and a dog. (Whew!)"The beauty of a woman is incredibly radiant when she finds her identity, her confidence, & her hope in Christ alone. "

| Bettas are pretty but nasty fish. I used to manage the pet department at a Walmart years ago. Some moron customer put two of them together in one bowl to see if it was true that they would fight. Well, yeah, duh, they are nicknamed siamese fighting fish for a reason. Very territorial. I came back from lunch to find one of them dead. Pissed me off. I owned a betta once. Named him Larry. I swear he would stare at me when I was on the computer. It was freaky, he seemed to say with his bugged out fish eyes, "If I could, I would kill you." Fun fact: Did you know that Bettas have evolved an organ known as the labyrinth organ which allows them to breathe air at the water's surface? Nifty! Because she's a female, she lacks most of those fancy fins... | |

I have had my fantail goldfish now for a few years. I HATE cleaning the tank.. That is the only downside of having a fish.. | |

| My grandpa used to have a lot of fish,so I'm used to them as pets. In fact I love fish. He had bettas time to time, but they didn't last more than a year. They are very delicate and must keep them aside from the other fishes inside the aquarium. Bettas are fighter fishes and you can't have two living together. They fight until one of them would die. In India, people performes betta fights in rice fields (they are always plenty of water), like other countries performs rooster fights... I'm happy you have a new betta Julia. They are lovely little animals. Vanesa. | |
