PostSubject: PETER BILLINGSLEY   Melissa - David's Little House Star Profiles and Trivia - Page 7 EmptyWed May 09, 2012 10:45 am

Peter Billingsley, born April 16th of 1971, in New York city, has been a member of the Hollywood community since he was a small child, achieving success and accolades both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. The highly successful child actor-turned- producer received an Emmy Award nomination in 2005 as co-executive producer on the critically acclaimed Independent Film Channel show "Dinner for Five" (2001), with Jon Favreau. He also served as executive producer on the hit summer film The Break-Up and recently wrapped production on Marvel Comics feature film Iron Man, directed by Jon Favreau.
Billingsley also served as co-producer on the Artisan Entertainment classic Made, starring Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn, as well as Sony's recent science fiction release Zathura, directed by Favreau.
Billingsley recently became a principle in Wild West Picture Show Productions. The production company, founded by Vince Vaughn, currently has a first look production deal with Universal Studios.
Growing up in the public eye, Billingsley began his acting career at the age of three in some of the '70s most memorable television commercials. After appearing on numerous television shows and films during his youth, the Emmy Award nominated actor delivered a performance for the ages in the beloved holiday film A Christmas Story (1983). Playing humorist 'Jean Shephard (I)''s youthful alter-ego "Ralphie", Billingsley's repeated requests in the film for a genuine Red Ryder B-B gun quickly catapulted the actor to instant stardom and has since driven the film into pop culture lore as the classic modern-day Christmas tale.
Great-grandnephew of Stork Club impresario Sherman Billingsley (his maternal great-grandfather was Fred Billingsley who was Sherman's brother).
Brother of Melissa Michaelsen and Neil Billingsley.
Became best friends with Vince Vaughn after they shared the screen in an "After School Special".
Was number 63 on vh1's "100 Greatest Kid Stars" (2005)
His second most famous role as a child actor (next to "Ralphie" in A Christmas Story (1983)) was probably that of "Messy Marvin" in the Hershey's Chocolate Syrup commercials.
By age 11 he had acted in over 120 TV commercials, two feature films, two made-for-TV movies and three TV shows.
Back in the 80s he was the national spokesman for President Ronald Reagan's Young Astronaut Council, which was an educational program aimed at kids.
Wrote the Introduction to the 1994 autobiography "Dreamer", written by his friend Brian Evans, in 1994.
He appeared in an episode of Highway to Heaven, and other shows such as Whos the Boss, The Wonder Years, LA Heat.
His movie titles include Iron Man 2008, A Christmas Story 1983, The Break Up 2006, and Four Christmases,2008

He was in one episode of Little House. He played the stuttering Gideon in a very touching story titled " No Beast So Fierce" in 1982.

PostSubject: Clay O'Brien   Melissa - David's Little House Star Profiles and Trivia - Page 7 EmptyWed May 09, 2012 11:19 am

Born Clay O'Brien Cooper on May 6, 1961, in Ray,Arizona best known as the pint sized Hardy Fimps in the western coming of age film, The Cowboys; Clay O'Brien became a favorite with John Wayne who appreciated a real cowboy when he met one. Remaining pint-sized for several years, Clay could be found in pleasant but typical Disneyesque fare throughout the 1970's before he left acting and returned to cowboying full time where his undisputed talent truly lies. Clay has the respect of cowboys everywhere, holding more Team Roping championships than anyone and is the holder of Seven World titles in Team Roping. Clay's rodeo achievements are impressive by any standard and this mini-bio cannot even begin to cover them. Standing a respectable 6 feet, Clay and his wife Beth have two daughters, Bailey and Quinn.
He appeared in two John Wayne Classics, The Cowboys and Cahill, US Marshall. He acted in over 15 movies and TV shows including Gunsmoke, Marcus Welby MD, and Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color.
He was in one Little House Episode – Spring Dance – 1975
As Henry Henderson

Peter Billingsley is just a complete package of talent. He was remembered most as Ralphie but as Gideon he did just as well. To stutter like that and make it seem so real took talent. I'm sure those sky blue eyes got him noticed at first, but once the talent was seen that took over. Loved this episode.

PostSubject: Georg Olden   Melissa - David's Little House Star Profiles and Trivia - Page 7 EmptyWed May 09, 2012 4:03 pm

Olden was born January 14, 1968 in Tarrytown, New York. His mother was professional stage actress Terri Baker, and he grew up spending his summers traveling the country with her as she appeared in numerous roadshow engagements and stage plays. In a 1986 interview, Olden recounted his early childhood saying "I think we ended up seeing just about all of the U.S.A. except Alaska and Hawaii." Although an accomplished stage performer, Baker did not want her son to enter show business and discouraged him from embarking on a career within the entertainment industry.

In 1978, at the age of ten, Olden heard about a local theatrical production of the musical Oliver! that was looking for boys. He asked his mother to allow him to audition and, in spite of some misgivings, she eventually consented on one condition – he could audition for the part, but if he didn't get the role he would never bother his mother about acting again. If he did get the part, she would accept it as fate and would allow him to pursue an acting career. After a series of auditions to evaluate his acting, singing and dancing abilities, Olden landed the part and was immediately thrust into a full-scale production of the musical at the famed Aquarius Theatre in Hollywood, which starred comic Dick Shawn.

Over the next several years, Olden continued to work as a child actor and model, appearing in numerous national commercials and print advertorials until making the transition to television in 1981 with a guest-starring role on the situation comedy Flo.[1] On September 22, 1981, Olden appeared in the NBC musical-comedy special How to Eat Like a Child – And Other Lessons in Not Being a Grown-up, based on the best-selling book by Delia Ephron.[1] In the satirical special, Olden appeared opposite Dick Van Dyke (as the token "grown-up"), as well as other future child stars Corey Feldman and Billy Jacoby. In his review of the special, Baltimore Sun television critic, Bill Carter singled Olden out, writing "The main kid, called George in the show, has a kind of chip-on-the-shoulder mien; but he sings as sweetly as a choirboy.

On February 6, 1982, Olden appeared in his first starring role in ABC's popular Saturday morning anthology series, The ABC Weekend Special.[1] In the special episode titled The Joke's On Mr. Little, Olden starred as "Drag", a mischievous boy who, disappointed when his beloved teacher moves away and is replaced by the refined Mr. Lester Little (Richard Sanders), begins to plot with his best friend "Streeter" (K. C. Martel) to target the new teacher for a series of embarrassing practical jokes, only to ultimately learn a "valuable lesson" about himself. Later that same year, Olden followed up with guest-starring television roles, appearing on the daytime soap opera General Hospital .

In May 1983, Olden made his feature film debut with a small, but memorable role in the action-adventure drama, Breathless. In the film, Olden played a young skateboarder who debates the merits of the Silver Surfer with Jesse Lujack (Richard Gere) at a news-stand on the streets of Los Angeles.[1] In November of that same year, Olden had a small role in the CBS tear-jerker Two Kinds of Love. In the television drama, Olden played Jonas, a bully who antagonizes the film's lead (Ricky Schroder) as he struggles to cope with a troublesome family life.

In October 1984, Olden starred in the "cult" teen comedy Bad Manners (aka: Growing Pains). Set in an orphanage called "The Home of the Bleeding Heart", Olden played "Piper", the ring-leader of a group of teenage delinquents who escape from their oppressive orphanage to rescue a fellow "inmate", irreverently wreaking havoc on suburbia every step along the way. While not impressed with what he deemed to be a cynical and contrived storyline, Boston Phoenix critic Owen Gleiberman praised Olden as one of the film's young stand-out stars, writing – "Georg Olden has a charisma and physical grace far beyond his years [...] a scampish, freckle-faced punk with the eyes of a lynx and the smile of a future matinee idol."

In December 1984, Olden appeared in the gangster spoof comedy film, Johnny Dangerously, portraying a young Joe Piscopo.[1] In July 1985, he was once again cast as the "bully" in Joe Dante's science fiction fantasy adventure Explorers. In the film, Olden played one in a gang of teenage boys led by Steve Jackson (Bobby Fite) who torment the film's protagonists, Ben Crandall (Ethan Hawke) and Wolfgang Müller (River Phoenix).[1] While not considered a commercial success at the time, the film was the feature film debut of both Hawke and Phoenix, and has become something of a cult favorite among fans of 80s sci-fi cinema.
On September 2, 1985, Olden debuted in his co-starring role on the WTBS situation comedy Rocky Road. On the series, Olden played Robbie Stuart, a typical "girl crazy" teenager who, along with his two sisters, inherits an ice cream parlor on the Pismo Beach boardwalk from his recently-deceased parents.[10] Filmed in Hollywood, the series launched Olden as a popular teen idol of the day, with pinups and articles appearing in numerous teen magazines such as Tiger Beat, Teen Beat and 16 Magazine among others. In July 1986, Teen Idol Mania! described Olden when introducing him to their readers – "'Gorgeous Georg' Olden, the boy with the incredible, edible eyes." Rocky Road ran for three seasons and Olden earned two Youth in Film Award nominations for his work on the series.
After Rocky Road ended, Olden continued to make occasional guest-starring appearances on television. In October 1987, he appeared in an episode of Highway to Heaven titled I Was a Middle Aged Werewolf and in 1990, he made two appearances on the critically acclaimed teen medical drama Doogie Howser, M.D.. In 1994, Olden once again appeared with Ricky Schroder, this time as "Lou" in the dramatic television movie To My Daughter with Love.[13] In 2005, after more than 10 years out of show business, Olden returned to acting with a small role as Devan Burnett in the teen buddy comedy Suits on the Loose.

After leaving show business, Olden left Hollywood and moved to the Dallas–Fort Worth area working in real estate as a realtor at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage where his specialties included home marketing, buyer representation, and investor strategies. As of 2011, Olden continues to work in real estate and lives in the Bend, Oregon area.

PostSubject: Moosie Drier   Melissa - David's Little House Star Profiles and Trivia - Page 7 EmptyThu May 10, 2012 3:36 pm

Moosie Drier was born in August of 1964. He was enrolled at U.S. Grant High School in Van Nuys, California. His first role was as a deaf boy in two 1972 episodes of Lassie. He began his television career as a recurring performer on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In from the middle of season three to the final season in 1973, hosting a "Kid News for Kids" segment. During this period, Drier had movie roles in the 1972 Jack Lemmon comedy, The War Between Men and Women, the 1972 Barbra Streisand comedy Up the Sandbox, The Toy Game in 1973, and the made-for-TV comedies Here Comes the Judge, (1973), Roll, Freddy, Roll! (1974), and All Together Now (1975). A notable movie role from this period includes his appearance as Adam Landers in 1977’s George Burns comedy Oh, God!.
Drier then began voice acting as a regular character in ABC’s 1974 These Are the Days. Other recurring television roles included "Howie Borden" on The Bob Newhart Show, the son of Howard Borden.
In 1976, on CBS’s short-lived series Executive Suite, Drier played a recurring character, B.J. Koslo. Throughout the 1970s, Drier also played a variety of one-shot roles on such TV shows as The Barbara Eden Show (1973), The Waltons (1973), Adam-12 (1973), Apple's Way (1974), Police Story (3 episodes, 1974, 1975), Emergency! (2 episodes in 1975), Doc (1975), and Little House on the Prairie (1976). During this period, Drier appeared in several ABC Afterschool Special episodes, including: Runaways (1974) Hewitt's Just Different (1977) and Andrea's Story: A Hitchhiking Tragedy (1983).
Hewitt’s Just Different, an Emmy winner, was a lead role for Drier, as the developmentally disabled title character's friend, advocate and defender, wherein he must choose whether to remain friends with Hewitt, despite pressure by family and friends to break off the friendship, even after Hewitt’s knuckleball coaching has allowed Drier to qualify for the school team.
Drier's late 1970s and early 1980s roles included 1977’s ants-on-the rampage TV thriller It Happened at Lakewood Manor, 1978 real-story based courtroom murder thriller When Every Day Was the Fourth of July, and Peter Benchley scripted sea thriller Hunters of the Reef in 1978. Other roles from this period were in 1978 biographical dramas; Drier played a young Mickey Rooney in the 1978 Judy Garland biography Rainbow, while in the Alan Freed bio American Hot Wax, Drier played Artie Moress, the head of a Buddy Holly fan-club, who gives a tearful on-the-air memorial just after the famous plane crash. Driers’ performance received by far the warmest comment from the subsequent, somewhat mixed New York Times review. That same year saw the filming, but not the release of the made-for TV Jack Albertson vehicle Charlie and the Great Balloon Chase saw Drier play the fatherless grandson of Albertsons’ character. Drier’s character encourages Albertson to take a late-life but long-dreamed-of balloon trip despite the reservations of most of the others around them—and ends up accompanying the old man despite on-ground pursuit of the balloon by the mother, the police, and the FBI. Charlie and the Great Balloon Chase was not actually shown until 1981, the year of Albertsons’ death; which perhaps by accident sharpens the frequent theme in Drier’s early work as the son-figure of estranged father figures.
In 1980, Drier played a character also called Moosie in the more memorable The Hollywood Knights. In the 1980s made for TV movie, Homeward Bound, he played the terminally ill Bobby Seaton, who seeks over a last summer vacation to repair his relationship with his father Jake, played by David Soul.
Drier’s one-shot appearances included: CHiPs (1980), Family Ties (1983). Between 1984 and 1988, Drier played Riley, one of the original non-musical cast members on Kids Incorporated. In 1988, he made his director debut with episode 84, "Kahuna Kids". He also acted in the 1985 made-for-TV movie Student Court. This period also saw an increase in Drier's 1-spot appearances, including Diff'rent Strokes (1986), The A-Team (1986), Highway to Heaven (1986), Blacke's Magic (1986), Cagney & Lacey (1986), Hunter (1986) and Just the Ten of Us (1988). TV and movie acting work by Drier became much more sporadic, seeing only an appearance on The Munsters Today (1990), and ten years later on an episode of Jack & Jill (2000), and no known movie acting during the first half of the 1990s.The late 1990s saw Drier in minor roles in sci-fi space-ship hijack thriller Velocity Trap (1997), and Storm Trackers (1999), a thriller about a secret military weather control machine gone awry. Since this period, as mentioned above, his career has emphasized voice-over work on a 1989 episode of The Burbs, and on such films as Teaching Mrs. Tingle (1999), American Beauty (1999), What Lies Beneath (2000) Shrek (2001), 40 Days and 40 Nights (2002), The Shape of Things (2003), Jungle Book 2 (2003), the Lion King 1½ (2004), The Chronicles of Riddick (2004), Hauru no ugoku shiro (Eng: Howl's Moving Castle) in 2004, and Madagascar (2005). Drier also directed television episodes, including Reba (2005) and Too Late with Adam Carolla (2005). He directed a well-received children's musical, Precious Piglet and Her Pals at the Whitefire Theatre in Sherman Oaks, as well as the critically acclaimed Love Like Blue in 2007, also at the Whitefire Theatre. Drier directed "The Peacemaker" (TV pilot 2009).

Can we make requests??
I am interested in knowing about the man who was in 2 LH episodes. In one he joined Charles in the show where he and Almanzo had a delivery business. Charles came across this old man and when they came to water, the man wanted Charles to carry him on his shoulders. At the end of the show this man was the waiter in a restaurant that the Ingalls and Wilders were in. In the other show, he played the judge when Alice and Jonathan Garvey wanted to get a divorce.
I've seen this guy in other shows and I think he is very funny.
Thanks for all of your great posts.

PostSubject: Eddie Quillan By Request   Melissa - David's Little House Star Profiles and Trivia - Page 7 EmptyThu May 10, 2012 9:15 pm

Born in 1907 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania into a family of vaudeville performers, Quillan made his stage debut at the age of seven alongside his parents, Scottish-born Joseph Quillan and his wife Sarah, as well as his siblings in their act entitled 'The Rising Generation'. By the early 1920s he was called upon by film director Mack Sennett to perform a screen test for Mack Sennett Studios. Sennett signed Quillan to a contract in 1922.

Quillan's very first film appearance was in the 1922 comedy short Up and at 'Em. His next performance was in the 1926 comedy short The Love Sundae opposite actress Alice Day. His next ten film appearances (all released in 1926) were all comedy shorts that were vehicles for Day. He would spend most of the remaining years of the 1920s in comedy shorts featuring actresses Ruth Taylor and Madeline Hurlock. In 1928, Quillan starred in the comedy A Little Bit of Everything, notable because it featured his siblings Marie, Joseph and John in starring roles. Marie Quillan would eventually embark on a film career of her own and appear opposite her brother once more, in the 1929 comedy Nosy Neighbors.

Quillan's first feature-length film was the 1928 comedy-drama Show Folks opposite actress Lina Basquette, in which Quillan appropriately plays a vaudeville dancer. The film was a modest success and also featured actress Carole Lombard. Quillan's breakout role (and first dramatic film role) was in the 1929 Cecil B. DeMille directed The Godless Girl. The film paired Quillan once again with Basquette and starred Marie Prevost and Noah Beery, Sr. His subsequent exposure from the film landed him a contract with Pathé studios.
Eddie Quillan would remain a popular leading and secondary actor throughout the sound film era and would appear in such notable fims as 1935's Mutiny on the Bounty with Clark Gable, Charles Laughton, and Franchot Tone, 1939's Young Mr. Lincoln opposite Henry Fonda and Alice Brady, and as 'Connie Rivers' in John Ford's 1940 film adaptation of the John Steinbeck novel The Grapes of Wrath opposite Henry Fonda and 1943's Alaska Highway and It Ain't Hay opposite the comedic duo Abbott and Costello.

Quillan's breezy screen personality was seen in "B" musicals, comedies, and even serials during the 1940s. In 1948 Columbia Pictures producer Jules White teamed Eddie Quillan with veteran movie comic Wally Vernon for a series of comedy short subjects. White emphasized extreme physical comedy in these films, and Vernon and Quillan made a good team, enthusiastically engaging in pratfalling, kick-in-the-pants slapstick. The series ran through 1956.

Beginning in the late 1950s, Eddie Quillan began to make the transition to the medium of television and by the 1960s could be seen frequently appearing as a guest actor in such series as The Andy Griffith Show, Petticoat Junction, Perry Mason, and approximately five appearances on the camp-horror comedy series The Addams Family. He was a regular on the Anthony Franciosa sitcom Valentine's Day from 1964–65, and from 1968 through 1971 he appeared as "Eddie Edson" on the television drama Julia opposite actress Diahann Carroll.

Through the 1950s and 1960s, Quillan continued to appear in motion pictures, but in increasingly smaller roles and often in bit parts. One notable appearance of the era was his role of 'Sandy' in the 1954 Vincente Minnelli directed musical Brigadoon, starring Gene Kelly, Van Johnson and Cyd Charisse. Quillan also appeared in the uncredited role of 'Mr.Cassidy' in the 1969 Gene Kelly film adaptation of Hello, Dolly!, starring Barbra Streisand and Walter Matthau and featuring Louis Armstrong.

In the 1970s, Eddie Quillan made guest appearances on such television series as Mannix, Chico and the Man and Baretta. After meeting and befriending actor and director Michael Landon, he played numerous bit roles in the popular television series Little House on the Prairie. Quillan also performed in the Landon directed series Highway to Heaven and Father Murphy during the 1980s. Eddie Quillan made his last television appearance in a 1987 episode of the television crime-mystery series Matlock.
He passed away in 1990 at the age of 83 in Burbank,Ca. He was in over 275 Movies and TV Shows.

He was in 7 Little House Episodes
1.To Run and Hide (31 October 1977) - Jed Haney
2.The High Cost of Being Right (14 November 1977) - Judge Picker
3.Someone Please Love Me (5 March 1979) - Gargan
4.The Return of Mr. Edwards (5 November 1979) - Shorty
5.The In-laws (24 November 1980) - Kavendish
6.Days of Sunshine, Days of Shadow: Part 1 (15 February 1982) - Old Timer
7.For the Love of Blanche (7 March 1983) - Buffalo Bill

Probably one of the funniest characters on the show!
