PostSubject: JACK GING   David's Little House Star Profiles and Trivia - Page 14 EmptyWed May 30, 2012 5:36 pm

Jack Lee Ging (born November 30, 1931, in Alva in Woods County in northwestern Oklahoma) is an American actor best known for his role as General Harlan 'Bull' Fullbright in the NBC television series The A-Team.

Before turning to acting, Ging served in the United States Marine Corps and during the 1950s played college football at the University of Oklahoma at Norman.
From 1984 to 1985, Ging played the arrogant Lieutenant Ted Quinlan on the adventure/detective series Riptide from 1984 to 1985, in which he was eventually killed off to free him up to appear in The A-Team (Ironically, in his final Riptide episode, he was killed by Carl Franklin, the sidekick of Colonel Decker - Fulbright's predecessor in The A-Team).
His character was one of only two to have died on-screen during the series. Ging was brought in to try and ease things on set when the series stars George Peppard and Mr. T quarreled; Ging having worked with Peppard previously.

In 1981, Ging played Tracy Winslow in the episode "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys" on the ABC show The Greatest American Hero.

Ging had also played Will Coleman in the 1975 adaptation of the film Where The Red Fern Grows, had the starring role in the war film Sniper's Ridge (1960), and appeared sporadically as police contact Lieutenant Dan Ives on Mike Connors's Mannix in the early 1970s.

At the age of twenty-eight, Ging was cast in the role of Dan Wright, along with George Nader as Dr. Glenn Barton, in the NBC adventure series The Man and the Challenge, which ran for thirty-six episodes during the 1959-1960 season. Thereafter, he appeared occasionally in the role of Beau McCloud on the NBC western series, Tales of Wells Fargo, starring his fellow Oklahoman, Dale Robertson.
In 1960, Ging appeared in one episode of The Twilight Zone: "The Whole Truth".
From 1962-1964, he appeared as a young psychiatrist in NBC's 62-episode The Eleventh Hour medical drama. His costars were Wendell Corey, the first season, and thereafter Ralph Bellamy.

He also appeared on The Bionic Woman, Wiseguy, B.J. and the Bear, and The Highwayman. His movie credits include the Clint Eastwood westerns Hang 'Em High, Play Misty for Me, and High Plains Drifter.

Jack Ging made two guest appearances as villains on The A-Team (in the first season episode "A Small And Deadly War" and the second season's "Bad Time On The Border") before being given the role of General Fullbright, one of the army leaders whose thankless task was to capture The A-Team. In the final episode of The A-Teams fourth season, 'The Sound Of Thunder', the team were forced to fight on the same side as Fullbright whilst on a mission in Vietnam, searching for Fullbright's long lost daughter. Fullbright was captured and tortured by an enemy soldier; the team rescued him, but he was fatally shot during the escape.

He has four children from three marriages. He has two younger children from his third marriage (1978) to Ramona "Apache" Ging. He has one child each from previous marriages to Katie Ging (1952–1954) and Gretchen Graening Ging (1956–1972). He lives in a gated community outside Los Angeles near a country club, where he frequently plays golf.

Remember Rachel’s Father, Mr. Brown? He was also on one episode of Highway To Heaven in 1986.

PostSubject: MITCH VOGEL   David's Little House Star Profiles and Trivia - Page 14 EmptyWed May 30, 2012 6:00 pm

Mitch Vogel (born January 17, 1956) is a United States former child actor who left show business at the age of 20. He is best known for his 1970-73 Bonanza role, where he played the teen orphan Jamie Hunter Cartwright. The character was taken-in by the Cartwrights, and eventually became patriarch Ben's fourth son.

Born in Alhambra, California, Vogel was a lanky, freckle-faced, blue-eyed and red-haired unassuming youth. He attended Heinz Kaiser Junior High School in Costa Mesa, California, in 1969-1970 but could only occasionally attend class because of his acting schedule. Also later attended Jordan Jr. High school in Burbank, California.

Vogel's acting career commenced at age 12 in the 1968 film comedy Yours, Mine and Ours, as one of Lucille Ball's and Henry Fonda's brood. The next year he reached the pinnacle of his film career with a major role in The Reivers. He played the role of Lucius in the film adaptation of the William Faulkner coming-of-age novel. The film won Golden Globe nominations for Vogel.

With established success, Vogel became a popular guest actor on TV by briefly appearing in Bonanza and The Virginian in 1968. In 1970 he secured a recurring role on Bonanza. Vogel completed a two-year stint on the show as Jamie Hunter, an orphan taken in and adopted by the Cartwrights. His casting brought a new dimension of youth to the cast, as Michael Landon, at age 34, was a bit too old to be receiving fatherly guidance from patriarch Ben. When the series ended in 1972, Vogel had developed a friendship with Landon and went on to appear in Landon's Little House on the Prairie series years later.

Disney also took an interest in Vogel, with his "Tom Sawyer"-like homespun appeal. He appeared in lead roles in 1970s Menace on the Mountain (TV) and The Boy from Dead Man's Bayou (TV) in 1971.
He continued to be seen in outdoors series such as episodes of Here Come the Brides and Gunsmoke. In the Gunsmoke episode entitled "McCabe," which aired on November 30, 1970, Vogel played Dobie McCabe, the teenage son of the outlaw called only McCabe, portrayed by Dan Kemp. Dobie discloses his father's location to a local sheriff named Shackwood, played by Jim Davis. When McCabe is slated to be hanged, Dobie has second thoughts, though he is bitter over the recent death of his mother, whom McCabe had foolishly deserted ten years earlier. Marshal Matt Dillon, played by James Arness, meanwhile, gets a telegram from the governor to override the death sentence from a local judge and takes McCabe back to Dodge City, Kansas where McCabe faces less severe charges that will land him in prison. Dobie follows Dillon and McCabe to Dodge City and vows to wait for his father until eventual release from prison in hopes the two can start a new life together.[1] David Canary said in September 1972 of Mitch Vogel," I returned to the series after an awkward absence. I know the storyline now embraced this young, adoptive Cartwright. So few teens in this field can prove their salt. Watching him, over what, the first ten weeks, I knew the teen's (Mitch} skills could not be questioned- he's kind of this 27 year old actor residing in an a much {more} innocent shell".

By the time he reached adulthood, Vogel led a life away from the limelight. Today he still lives in the Southern California area. He was married in 1985, and the couple have two daughters.
Vogel returned to Bonanza's locations for the Travel Channel's TV Road Trip in 2002, in which he narrated a look at the Ponderosa Ranch in Incline Village, near Lake Tahoe, Nevada. In 2004 he was featured in an interview in Bonanza Gold magazine. He participated in both the 2005 Bonanza Convention and the 2010 Bonanza Weekend in Liverpool, England.
He was in 32 productions from 1967 - 1978.

PostSubject: ANNE RAMSEY   David's Little House Star Profiles and Trivia - Page 14 EmptyThu May 31, 2012 2:36 pm

American-born character actress, Anne Ramsey, was quite a busy actress in the 1980s despite being in her later years at the time. It wasn't until quite late in her life that Ramsey pursued an acting career in motion pictures. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1929, Ramsey attended Bennington College and was active in numerous on- and off-Broadway productions. After her marriage to actor Logan Ramsey, the couple formed Philadelphia's Theatre of the Living Arts. It was in the early 70s that Ramsey began her lengthy career into films. In 1971, she starred opposite her husband in The Sporting Club (1971) and then settled into small bit parts. However, she was eventually noticed for her trademark brusque, gruff womanly roles, after which she received more offers for films, notably Goin' South (1978), Any Which Way You Can (1980), The Goonies (1985) and Deadly Friend (1986). Unfortunately, by the mid 1980s, Ramsey discovered she was suffering from throat cancer and was forced to have parts of both her tongue and jawbone removed. Showing no sign that her cancer was slowing her down, she received an Academy Award nomination in 1987 for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Danny DeVito's mean mother in the film Throw Momma from the Train (1987). She continued to work until just months before her death in 1988 from cancer at the age of 58.

Following the death of their own mother ("Mom always liked you best!"), the Smothers Brothers chose Anne Ramsey to receive the flowers and honors on their Mothers' Day show.
Died, just six months after receiving her Oscar nomination for Throw Momma from the Train (1987).

Appeared with her husband, actor Logan Ramsey in The Sporting Club (1971), The Law (1974) (TV), "Blind Ambition" (1979), Any Which Way You Can (1980), Say Yes (1986), Scrooged (1988), Doctor Hackenstein (1988) and Meet the Hollowheads (1989).
Daughter of a successful insurance executive and his wife who was a descendant of the Pilgrims, she attended exclusive schools in Connecticut and made her debut the same season as Jacqueline Bouvier, the future Mrs. John F. Kennedy.
Though she played the elderly mother of Danny DeVito's character Owen in Throw Momma from the Train (1987), Ms. Ramsey was actually only fifteen years older than DeVito.

She was in 61 films from 1971 through 1989.

She played Mrs. Schiller (The Cook) in one Little House episode.
