Wow, I didn't realize Matlock ran for NINE years?! What a running!
And I didn't realize he had lost a son, either. I can't imagine that heartbreak. They are together now. Maybe he rest in peace.

I saw this on FB. My news channel put this up on FB. We just bought the best of The Andy Griffith Show. I love watching the reruns of The Andy Griffith Show, when I was kid.
RIP Andy Griffith.

That scene of Andy and Opie at the beginning of the show - where they're walking together - has been on my list of things to draw for a long time now. I think I'll try to get a good screen capture from it and try to draw it soon.
That's a beautiful pic, Carol - thank you for posting it.

Yes, DO Lisa! He was such a special man. I read something about him having pain in his feet all the time. I am glad he doesn't have to deal with that anymore. 86 yrs is a great life. Now he can be with his own son.

One of Andy's nicest scenes. This is the final scene of "Opie the Birdman," in which Opie accidentally kills a mother bird with his slingshot, and takes on the task of raising the babies.

I remember that! I raised so many baby birds (or tried) my Dad teased me when I started shaving. Said I was really sprouting feathers.

Such sad news...
It looks like things are moving rather quickly..
"Andy Griffith, who died this morning, has been buried on the grounds of his farm on North Carolina's Roanoke Island, according to Twiford Funeral Homes. A small group of family and friends held a private service beforehand."

Even though that isn't one of my favorite episodes, that's one of my favorite scenes - and one of the best scenes that I think both Andy and Opie did.
Thank you, Amy & Gin! I tried getting a screen cap this afternoon, but it isn't very good. I may "advertise" for some help on Facebook.
