| This morning, I was outdoors doing some more painting on the swing. (This time, a tornado did NOT interrupt!) I heard a car slow waaaay down out front, then stop. Being naturally curious (or nosey - whichever you prefer, lol) I looked through the fence to see if it was someone stopping at my house. What I saw made me hurry out front. There, where the car had stopped - IN THE ROAD, was a naked baby on a little plastic riding toy. (My street has cars going through constantly, and they go way too fast, too!) He was probably around 18 months old, with no Mama or Daddy in sight........nobody frantically looking for him......and no clothing on. And it was COLD this morning. Poor baby, he was shivering, and was too young to be able to even tell us his name. So, we called the police, and within a few minutes, Officer Mike showed up - MAD. He was visibly angry, and he's usually known for being really even tempered. He gently picked up the little fella (who, by now had been diapered and wrapped in a blanket by my neighbor) and talked to him a little. Then, he said that he'd be taking the baby home, and talking with the baby's Mother and protective services - AGAIN. Turns out, just YESTERDAY, he had brought this same baby home from wandering on another street. The Mother was sleeping, and the little fella had wandered outdoors, and down two streets. (This wasn't like 7:00 AM, either. It was 10:30!) Honestly, I am so sick of Mothers who don't take care of their children. There are so many women who would give anything they have, just to have a baby - and then there are those women who have a precious child, and couldn't care less. Why HAVE a baby if you're not going to take care of him/her?? I'll step off my soapbox now............. but this kind of thing infuriates me, and breaks my heart at the same time.
So, how does the crow in the title fit it? It almost sounds like it should start out: "Once upon a time"........ But, the lady who stopped her car, to stop traffic and help the baby? She told me that the only reason that she'd been going so very slow, and was able to see the baby before hitting him, was because a HUGE crow was standing in her pathway in the road, and wouldn't move. She didn't want to hit it, so she slowed down and honked her horn a little - and that's when she saw the baby......just to the left of the crow, in the shadow of a telephone pole. Who'd have thought that a guardian angel could come in the shape of a crow?

| Some people need to stick their heads in the toilet and then flush!! That mother needs help. If this wasn't a wake up call, I don't know what is. Savannah, I am so glad that the baby wasn't hurt. | |

| I agree, Marilyn. You would think that once would have been enough for her to be more careful with that darling little baby. But noooooo. Poor sweetie. | |

| Wow, what a miracle that was.
I hope that little boy gets the proper care and that mother gets punished.

I got inspired the other day when you and Rhonda were talking about Barney taking his bullet out of his pocket. " When is a lawman really off duty?" - Barney Fife, M.D. (Mayberry Deputy)
