| Get the tissues..... Hercules - an albino Doberman, dumped in the Angeles Crest Forest. A few days ago I got a call from my friend Lisa Chiarelli about Hercules. She found him while hiking in the Angeles Crest Forest. Hercules was just standing there like a zombie, super skinny, suffering from a heat stroke, poisioning, and from kidney failure. She placed a leash on him, and rushed him to my vet. With kidney failure, I feared the worst. After intensive care for 48 hours by the amazing team at the Veterinary Care Center, he bounced back, his kidneys went back to normal function. I kept visiting him daily as he was recovering, and he was just so sweet and grateful to be alive. If Lisa was not there that day, he would have died for sure. Lisa fostered him for a couple of weeks and yesterday she called me. I could hear right away that she was crying. I asked "what happened??" she replied "he is gone". My heart stopped for a second. "Gone?" I asked. She said "yes... to his amazing new home". PHEW!!!!! :-) It's so easy to get attached to these amazing animals, and it's always hard to let them go. As fosters we have to keep reminding ourselves that they are going to great homes that we check personally, and that it opens a place for the next animal that needs our help. Thank you so much Lisa!! | Oh, what a beautiful story! SO sad, to think what some animals are put through; betrayed by the people that are supposed to care for and about them. We have fostered several dogs, and I SO know that attachment, and how difficult it is to give them up when the time comes. You just have to pray they are going to good home, because as much as I'd love to have a houseful, that is just not possible. Thanks for sharing this, Rhonda! | |

| That is a beautiful story. I'm so happy for a happy ending.
Foster people are amazing. Our Buddy's foster dad didn't even look at Buddy as he walked out the door, I could tell it was tough for him to say good-bye. He did have us take a picture of him and Buddy together, which was sweet. He is a trainer too, so we hired him to help us with Buddy. His foster dad keeps doing it, and has been doing so for awhile, so I know it's a rewarding experience for him.
We would consider fostering ourselves, but since our cats are still having difficulty adjusting to having Buddy around (gets better everyday though), we couldn't put them through having a new animal come into our home all the time.
Thanks for sharing the story, Rhonda.

| If they could just speak....the love they could tell...and the horror..I'm sure. So glad he got another chance.
It is the lack of Christianity that has brought us where we are. Not a lack of churches or religious forms but of the real thing in our hearts. LIW.....Words From a Fearless Heart
