| We have two cats, Lucky, who we have had for 8 years and the other is a rescue cat, Puddin', we got from Melissa's boyfriend.
Lucky is a big cat and weighs 17 pounds and she's spayed and declawed. Puddin' is about 3 or 4 and slender. Puddin' has not been spayed or declawed (haven't been able to afford it yet). The two do not get along, they charge at one another and stop short of any contact, but there are the times when one will ambush the other and they have a slap fight.
The problem is that Lucky has been urinating in a corner of the kitchen, in a corner of the upstairs bathroom and sometimes in the hallway by the front door. I don't know if she is just mad at us for taking in Puddin' and is punishing us or if she is too fat and lazy to go to the basement where the litter boxes are.
If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. I don't want to get rid of either of them.
Thank you. Spring is finally here, the lovely pink blooms on the "spray" tree outside my window are gone leaving a beautiful willow.

| It sounds like Lucky is marking her territory. I'm not sure what you can do if they aren't getting along, but maybe the vet has a couple of ideas for you to try. | |

Thanks, Cheryl. I will talk to her. It does sound like she is marking her territory. - Rhonda wrote:
- She might be marking the house as hers......When I moved my 2 cats up here with me into the house (they are BOTH litter box trained) I was waking up to 'litter' throughout the house.....even though the litter box was right there.....I think they were going through the new house, marking it as theirs....it finally stopped.....but goodness, what a mess........You might get another litter box and see if she uses it.....but I have a feeling, she is telling Puddin' that the house belongs to her and there is no room for another....
Thanks, Rhonda. We have two litter boxes, and Puddin' has been here for almost a year and a half. I think you're right about Lucky's feelings and she's just not going to be satisfied until Puddin' is gone. The funny thing is that sometimes they will lie right next to each other and be fine

| That's a good possibility. I will talk to the vet about that. I may just have to find the money from somewhere and have her spayed if it could eliminate the problem.
Love your cat's names. Spring is finally here, the lovely pink blooms on the "spray" tree outside my window are gone leaving a beautiful willow.

| I think spaying is your best bet too. Maybe your vet has a payment plan? Ours does. Wouldn't hurt to ask! Seems odd that it would be a territorial thing after being together for a year and a half though...that is a LONG time. I think a vet visit is in order to rule out a bladder infection/UTI. Our dog gets them from time to time and we always know when she has yet another one. Good luck, Alice....my sister has had cats who have peed in the house and she said there is nothing worse than trying to get rid of the odor from cat urine! She has had to replace carpet just because of a cat, and she has sworn them off now. I, on the other hand, still want to have one someday. We've only had dogs. “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

| I will ask them about a payment plan. I had never thought it could be a UTI, but it's something else to ask the vet about. Fortunately, we have hard wood floors so if we find it in time we can clean it up before it ruins the wood (which it has in places). I hope that you can have a cat one day, they really are quite entertaining at times We also have a Boston Terrier who was very well trained by the people we got her from. She is a real sweetheart. Thanks for the suggestions, Amy. Spring is finally here, the lovely pink blooms on the "spray" tree outside my window are gone leaving a beautiful willow. | |

I think he is just marking territory. Cats usually does that... Vanesa.
