| I'm so happy to hear that the surgery went well, Lisa. I hope that your mom was able to get a good night's sleep and is feeling better. She will continue to be in my prayers. | |

God bless. “It was a huge shock when it came and very excited“ This was the duchess of cambridges take on how she felt when William proposed during their official engagement interview with ITN reporter Tom Bradby. There was a real giggle at the end. Cute.

| I don't think Lisa has had a chance to update this thread but as far as I know, her mom is having her second surgery tomorrow morning. I'm sure more prayers would be appreciated by Lisa and her family. “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

| I'm updating family & friends at the same time, so I'm just going to copy and paste my Facebook status:
We just spoke with the surgeon and he said that everything went great up until the very end of the surgery. He said that they noticed some blood in the fluid from the spinal drain, and that *could* be a concern, because there's a slight risk of paraplegia with this surgery, and there shouldn't be blood in the spinal fluid. They'll be stirring her as soon as possible to see if she can move her legs. Prayers, as always, are greatly appreciated - and I'll post as SOON as we know more. Praise the Lord she's stable and doing well outside of this concern!

| Thank you all SO MUCH for the prayers! I can't even begin to explain how much it means to me and to my family! We're all just getting home now, and even after having been at the hospital since six this morning, we still didn't really want to leave. It's hard to leave someone you love, even if you know that they're in wonderful hands! Then on the way home tonight....out of *nowhere* came a rainstorm...It was the strangest rainstorm I've ever seen - HUGE raindrops that fell almost in slow motion...And then, the most brilliant rainbow appeared RIGHT in front of us! I sent Charles & Krista a text (they were driving right behind me and my Dad) and said, "RAINBOW!!!"....Krista replied moments later, "DOUBLE!!!" I looked, and sure enough! There it was! A double rainbow! It was such a gift! Like God telling us not to worry about Mom - that He was watching over her. We're all so very exhausted...but VERY thankful that things have gone so well. And we're praying that they continue to. There are still things to be concerned about - the possible paraplegia, severe nausea, pain....But we'll face them as they come, IF they come. And once again, thank you for your prayers!! | |

| Back again! My goodness am I tired! I have to say, though, that I'll take "so tired" right now without complaint. It's such a blessing to see Mom doing as well as she is. I mean, she isn't sitting up playing checkers with us by any means - she's still unconscious most of the time due to being heavily medicated for pain. But her color is good, she can move all of her extremities, she's coherent when she's awake....She didn't remember that she'd already had the surgery when I first got to the hospital. When I told her that she really looked good for having had such a major operation, she looked at me with surprise and confusion on her face, and said to me, "I already HAD it? I thought it was scheduled for today!" But she remembers what year/month it is, and who the president is - and she knows all of us, so she's doing great. What a beautiful answer to MANY prayers! | |

| Back with a "Good news, bad news" update.....The good news is that Mom came through the surgery! And with no paralysis, no stroke symptoms, no major blood loss....So many things to be thankful for!
The bad news, though, is that she is in terrible pain. They have her on an epidural drip, but the pain is beyond that, so they're having to give her shots as well. She has never been one to complain, and has a high threshold for pain, so for HER to be in the condition she's in, she has to be in misery. Please pray that the pain quickly diminishes. The nurse told us that this is considered the second most painful surgery that there is. It hurts so much to see her suffering. The one thing that I cling to is that she doesn't remember anything about her first open-heart surgery. I hope the same is true for this one. The first one, by the way, was completely different. They went in through the center of her chest, and it was basically a painless procedure. This one was a thoracic open-heart, which goes in between ribs, and tears cartilage and nerves in the process. I hope she doesn't remember any of this when it's all said and done.

| I'm glad to hear the pain is letting up some. It's awful to watch someone you love in pain and to be able to do anything about it. Prayers continue for both of you. | |
