| Hi,
This is just a list of things I missed about the later seasons of little house on the prairie.
If you have any then I would love to here them.
1 Ma, As strange as it is its true after Ma left the show I really missed her which came as a surprise to me because I had never really liked Ma I found her a bit boring but after Ma left The show I realized that she was a very strong character that sort of kept the show together.
2 The Family love, I knew from the minute that the carters stepped in side the Ingall's house that it just wasn't right. It seemed as if we had grown to love that house almost as are own and then suddenly it the love that was in it went somewhere.
3 Lars Hanson. Don't we all miss the down to earth Lars Hanson???
4 Nellie. Nellie was such a funny character once she left the show it seemed like it was all up to Mrs Olson and it wasn't as funny.
5 The relationship between Carrie and Laura. As I think someone has already said on her, The beautiful Relationship between Carrie and Laura in the books never really came to anything in the show once Albert came on the show but don't get me wrong Albert was a great guy just I think that he should not have got all the parts.
6 Rose. There was not much to do with rose once jenny came I think in the end of season 7 and the beginning of season 8 there was a lovely mother and father relationship with Rose which when Jenny came Rose Became just a baby in the background.
7 The Loyalty that the town felt to there people.
I always felt that there was a loyalty in the town which everyone felt about others then I felt in season 8 the town people became very self centered. Why an earth did they change that?
I hope you liked my list.
Please tell me yours!

| I missed the earlier love and shows, even the earlier Albert shows had that feel....later, you can't help growing up, the Almonzo and Laura episodes lost something for me.
I missed Caroline also and her calming effect on everyone, Miss Beadle and I wish Grace and Carrie had a few more lines to be part of the family...I realize too many might not have worked, but they were part of the family.
Jenny was a good actress but she wasn't an "Ingall's". I remember a show when she was depressed and tried to drown herself...do most children think of things like that? I thought, enough!!
I missed Nellie and Percival...I think they would have been comic relief, just do something with her hair. : )

I always felt that no matter who moved into the Little House, except maybe Mr. Edwards, it would never be the same. While they tried to turn the Carters into the Ingalls family, it simply wouldn’t work.

Nellie’s actions definitely propelled the humor with Mrs. Oleson, and between Mr. and Mrs. Oleson, but I think the actors did a fine job of creating humorous situations once Nellie left. Personally, I wish they hadn’t introduced Nancy. Nellie’s leaving changed the dynamic between Harriet and Nels. It would have allowed Willie to be more of a focus than having him be the forgotten child again and exploring Nels and Harriet as a couple could have been a nice complement.

This is something that always bugged me. Granted, people have their opinions on why Carrie wasn’t developed more, but I feel this was one area they should have done everything they could to make it work. LHOTPfan2000 said: 6 Rose. There was not much to do with rose once jenny came I think in the end of season 7 and the beginning of season 8 there was a lovely mother and father relationship with Rose which when Jenny came Rose Became just a baby in the background. Because Rose was so young, the opportunities for Laura and Almanzo to take on the parental role with any meaning were limited. They had to have an older child in their lives and give her real issues. Almanzo and Laura became the new Charles and Caroline—even if they had to share that role to some degree with the Carters. While the show took on more of a community approach (a focus on the entire town versus a main focus on the Ingalls family) the show was still a family show. Laura and Almanzo needed to face some real parental issues to keep it interesting. That’s also why I feel Grace Ingalls wasn’t more a part of the show. She was simply too young to provide an interesting storyline.

| After ALL is said and done, I wish they had ALL had more dialogue. It is one of the few shows that I can still watch, even though I've probably seen every episode ten times, that can make laugh and cry no matter how many times that I have seen them.
I think Jimmy Hill (Chris Petersen) could have been a regular. There could have been some great stories written around he and Laura.
I never could quite figure out why Nellie never got sent to the corner! Would like to have seen that once!
Albert will always catch it for being fictional, but Matt was one fine actor. I think he and Missy Anderson were the two best actors on the show.
We all have our favorites.......But one thing we ALL have in common. WE ALL loved it, otherwise we wouldn't be here talking about it over thirty years later. When you think about that, its pretty amazing.
And there's one thing for sure. I've kidded around and sometimes argued with most everyone on this board. The one abiding fact is, that I love everybody on here. I love them because they believe in family values and what counts in life which is loving everyone around you.
You don't find that in many places nowadays....... "Albert, do you REALLY think you are old enough to know what love is?" "I must be Pa. I love you, I have for a long time."

| I think Albert added a new dimension to the show, but I think what people resent (IMO) is that they feel they pushed the other family members and characters to the back. I wonder if some characters got paid differently if they spoke or had more air time, I heard stories about that years ago from actors (don't know if its true) but overall, Albert added much more than the orphans did later. I think that was just a desperate attempt to revive a stale writing period and fans didn't want to see replacements of characters, Albert was an "addition" it was different.
I thought MSA was also a great little actress...what she showed in "I'll Be Waving as You Drive Away" was wonderful and she was nominated. She could have shown more of that if given better scripts but she was a good actress, hard worker and I feel harshly judged by some.
