I will always remember that terrible day in September. Hard to believe that it has been 7 years that our country was changed forever!
May God bless the souls of those lives lost and may He also bless those who must live their lives without their loved ones.
I will never forget.
The below photo shows me that God is with us all the time and never leavs us! He he with us always.
God Bless America! May she stand just as stong as ever!

I certainly never will forget. Just thinking about it, all of the emotions from that day come right back.

I could never forget it either. My brother-in-law was supposed to be at the WTC that day. My oldest daughter was a month old and I watched the news for weeks after it happened. I still can't watch documentaries about it and I only recently read a book about the topic--something I don't want to do again soon.
God bless America!

I also remember that day well. I was getting ready for work and watched the news in disbelief. At work, that day was so weird... it was dead... quiet... except for the news coming out of the radio & TV, it felt like we were at war and we were there listening to the news of what was going on. No, I can never forget and I can't forget what America did in retaliation either. There have been a lot of lives lost, civilians & soldiers as a result of all of the events associated with 9/11 and my prayers today are with all of the families who became victims and lost loved ones because of this.

I was watching the Today show at the time. I'll never forget it, and all of us figuring it just had to be some kind of unfortunate accident...until the 2nd plane hit. I remember Matt Lauer talking to a reporter who was on the ground, and she stopped talking and then screamed, "OMG the second tower has been hit", and Matt was like "No you must be mistaken" or SLT, and she kind of got mad at him and said "I'm standing right here Matt---I saw it!" It's just so awful to even think about it. I had a second cousin who died in tower 2....I didn't know him (I'm one of 48 grandkids) but I do know he had just graduated, got married, moved to New York and landed his dream job. What a tragedy, for so many.

Well, we felt the impact when the plane hit the Pentagon where we live. It woke us up. My sister could see the black smoke from her job.
The war needs to end though. Too many lives lost.

I know what really bothered me, was to know that people were hanging out of the windows and some even jumping out the windows. Gives me shivers just to think about it.

Yes, specially when the war in Iraq has now cost more than double U.S. lives than the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and that's not counting innocent civilians.... I mean... what is wrong with this picture?

A lot is wrong with that picture, Carol. I am all for supporting our troops, but war is pointless. Too many innocent lives have been lost.
September 11th, changed so many things. Heck, don't lose your driver's license. It's very hard to get back. You need so much documentation, it's not even funny. I mean, they can look at me, see I am an american, have lived here in the same city and state ALL my life and I have to PROVE who I am, and I have never broken the law! There is something wrong with that too.

i was only 7 years old. we didn't have school that day because the water was out. the plane that crashed in Shanksville flew right over my old school. I will never forget watching the news and these people coming out of the smoke all covered in ashes. it was terrible.

I can't beleive that has already been 7 years ago. It seems like just a while back in some ways, and in someways, it seems ages ago.

I'm not sure if anyone is interested, by I heard a story about a woman who was in the second tower. She worked on one of the tops floors and clearly saw tower two get struck. She said that is sounded like a loud whistle and the next thing she knew, the windows busted in her office. She panicked and ran down to the lobby. There waiting was several officers. Many others were asking and begging to leave. As they were all rushing to the door the officers would not let them exit. Determined she pushed through the crowd and officers. She was the only person to escape. Everyone else had either lost their life or was injured. Today she tells her story.
My heart goes out to the family and friends of them who had lost loved ones.

Aww, thanks. It's been over 2 years since he passed. I broke down and threw myself on the couch when I found out. He seemed to have been getting better too. We grew up together for a few years.

I don't normally get in on the political topics, just because I don't want things to get heated, but I was sent this youtube video and it says a lot. It is a commercial that was put together by a local kid and when he walks away after his talk, everything comes into perspective.....

I feel the same way Rhonda, just because I've seen it happen on the other board I frequent. I think people are more open-minded here, but it's been my experience that, however one feels about whichever party or political matter, they're not going to sway on their stance or convince anyone else. This board is very special in the way that we really do all respect each other's right to our opninions. I'm sure I've said some things about contraversial topics over the years here that have warranted people to debate with me, but they don't, or if they do, it's done with the utmost respect. I believe that's because we are all very dedicated to 'keeping the peace' here. It's a huge part of why I love this prairie family so much.
About the video, that is SO moving. Thank you so much for sharing it. I won't get into my stance, for the reason I just mentioned above, but I will say that there are always two sides of the coin. People say "bring our troops home", but it's important to remember that the troops believe in what they're doing. I know you have sons in military Rhonda, and I think it's just a totally different perspective that they have from what a lot of us do. I don't like this war either, but there are always two sides of the coin.
