Legendary actor Mickey Rooney has died at the age of 93. During his over 80-year career in movies and television, Rooney starred in over 200 films. Some of the roles he performed in included Andy Hardy, Mi Taylor in National Velvet, and the voice of Santa Claus in the Christmas cartoon The Year Without A Santa Claus.
I was sad to hear this news. Mickey Rooney was a very talented actor. We have lost too many Hollywood greats already this year.

I've seen National Velvet many times. He and Elizabeth were both wonderful in it. I also remember seeing him on an episode of The Golden Girls, where he played Sophia's boyfriend.

My condolences to his family. He lived a long life and enjoyed all his time in front of the camera.
I saw this on a friend's face book page last night. Since there are so many celebrity death hoax out there, I searched and searched to see if it was real or not; this friend is good at posting all the hoax deaths thinking they are real, so I just wasn't sure. In my searching, I couldn't find a thing. It was getting late, so I shut down and went to bed and shortly thereafter, heard it on the news as, "Breaking News", so they had just heard it as well.....Funny how some media get hold of info right away and others don't. I think after all of us here heard about Richard Bull, it was 3-4 days later that the media even said anything. Very interesting how the media works.

I have for years had dreams of celebrities. Mickey was one of them, a few years ago. In this dream he walked up to me and asked me how I was doing and then tried to kiss me. Then out of no where Michael Landon punched him out. That was the end of that dream. I had not even seen him on anything before that!
I will always remember Mickey's roll in The Black Stallion . I thought he did an awesome job . He had such a wonderful way with not only funny scenes but serious ones as well. I hope his family comes together to honor him and remember all he gave to his fans.

Gin!
Yes Gin, my first thought went to National Velvet but then immediately to the Black Stallion. I'd like to see that again. (I liked Black Stallion Returns even better though).
I had no idea Mickey had been married that many times...if you look at the dates the longest he was ever single in all his adult years was just one year!
I hear you about the hoaxes, Rhonda. I know I was surprised to see Mickey in the news around Oscars time, because I could have sworn he'd already died a couple years back! Obviously it was a hoax back then! Just silly how these things get started.
Wow, 200 movies. Remarkable!! May he rest in peace.
