LauraPalooza, this year's Wilder conference, will be held in Burlington VT from July 12-15.  An array of scholars, authors, and researchers will present sessions at the event. A focus will be on Almanzo, the Wilder family, and "Farmer Boy" since the conference will include a day at Almanzo's boyhood home near Malone, NY. Dean Butler who portrayed Almanzo on the LHOP TV show will be an honored guest. It is not too late to join this gathering of Wilder admirers and readers. Click below for all pertinent information!

Charlotte Stewart is making her second visit to Mansfield during Wilder Days. We are pleased to announce that Charlotte Stewart (Miss Beadle, Little House on the Prairie) will be our special guest for 2022 Wilder Days here in Mansfield, Missouri. Is anyone near Marysville Public Library in Michigan?  If so, you are invited to a program about Almanzo Wilder on Saturday, January 14. Almanzo's life on Rocky Ridge Farm will be the subject of this session.  His role in the dynamics of the Wilder family has not been discussed widely, but he was surely the glue that keep the farm going. And his quiet, steady ways were appreciated by his wife Laura, and daughter Rose.

Many of you know I live in Missouri...what you may not know is, from driveway to driveway, my house is 30 miles from Laura and Almanzo's home! We've had a few snowy days and someone happened to get out and take this picture of Laura's home.

Good morning! Here is today's picture of Laura and Almanzo Wilder's Rocky Ridge Farmhouse. Turn the clock back eighty years and imagine the Wilders inside their cozy home: Laura working in her writing study and Almanzo comfortably "sitting in a sunny window" as she wrote to a reader on such a winter day. "The sun is shining again today and that raises our spirits..." she remarked. Thank you to museum employee Michelle Underwood for her wonderful photography.

Here is another event to add, on this, Laura Ingalls Wilder's 156th birthday: "SPEND AN HOUR WITH LAURA INGALLS WILDER IN 1947." This is a program of Missouri Humanities and Missouri Trails Regional Library and will be presented at the Lexington Branch Library on February 16 from 4:30-5:30.

How fortunate that Almanzo Wilder’s first and last home have been so beautifully preserved and restored. Here on Rocky Ridge Farm Laura wrote about Almanzo’s boyhood near Burke & Malone NY in FARMER BOY. It was published 90 years ago and has never been out of print. Almanzo owned Rocky Ridge Farm (with his wife) for over 50 years. Come and visit each historic site this season!

New Release:  PIONEER GIRL THE PATH INTO FICTION

The third volume in the Pioneer Girl Project series, Pioneer Girl: The Path into Fiction follows Wilder as she steps away from autobiography and into the world of fiction. The story began in Pioneer Girl: The Annotated Autobiography (2014), edited by Pamela Smith Hill, which made the original text of Wilder’s 1930 autobiography available to readers for the first time. But that was only the start of Wilder’s journey as an American novelist. Wilder next handed her text over to her daughter, novelist and journalist Rose Wilder Lane, for editing. The second volume in the series, Pioneer Girl: The Revised Texts (2021), edited by Nancy Tystad Koupal and other Pioneer Girl Project editors, presented Lane’s three revisions of the Pioneer Girl manuscript, allowing readers to explore the working relationship between Lane and Wilder.

To help raise funds the Wilder staff has made skeleton key keychains. Each one is unique and can only be obtained through a donation, they are not for sale in the store.

A VIP $40.00 Reception/Meet and Greet Add-On can be purchased as well. This is an Add-On ticket only and must be purchased in conjunction with the Dinner.
