Prayers for Janice!

Please pray for comfort for my sweet friend, Janice, who is in the last stages of her fight against cancer.  She is in her early 50's, has 2 grown children, and 4 grand children.  She was diagnosed September 2014, was told a couple of months back that she was in remission, only to find out it is back and causing all kinds of trouble for her. Thank you to all!

"UPDATE 7/20/15
Janice, myself, Marie Adams and Lynn Graham went to visit the doctor this morning. Here are the results:
Her labs indicated that the platelet transfusion performed Saturday at the hospital produced a minimal gain, bringing her platelet count from 14K to 23K (normal is 150K-350K). This is an indication that her bones are so significantly affected that they are not able to produce enough platelets.
He confirmed that the cancer has spread throughout. She now has it in her neck, pelvis, lymph nodes on the back of the chest, and that the other areas she had it previously (liver, spleen, breast, spine, hip, brain) had all grown and/or spread. He said the individual places of cancer in the rest of her body were too numerable to count.
After discussion he is referring her to hospice for evaluation and care. When asked for a timeline, he is although there is no way to know for sure, anywhere from 2-3 weeks to 2-3 months is his best estimate. We were all punched in the gut.
She will be evaluated today or tomorrow. There will be options for both in home or in facility hospice depending on what they recommend and what Janice prefers. Obviously there are advantages and disadvantages to both. A positive note is that her super wonder support dog Ellie can be with her regardless of where she is.
Jan's lifelong friend Lynn Graham is here and has been an invaluable support and comfort to Janice. My mom and dad, as well as Chris and Caitlin (our son and his wife) have been great also. Jan's sister arrives sometime today, although her flight has been delayed. Jan's friends from college will be coming in Wednesday from Texas and Florida. Ashley Brianne, our daughter plans to be here by the weekend with our grandson Grady. Other kin from the area may also be coming as well. We want to make as many memories as possible while she is still able.
To our incredible church family, extended church family and friends many of whom we have never met, our cup overflows with gratitude for all the many things you have done and continue to do. We are forever grateful.
There will be a lot of changes going on in the next few days, weeks and months. I will continue to update as I can.

I am so sorry, Rhonda. I will add Janice and her family to my prayer list and ask the church to pray for them as well.

UPDATE 7/23/2015
Yesterday a hospice nurse came to evaluate Janice. She determined that at home hospice was indeed called for, and equipment and oxygen was delivered within the hour.
Today a different nurse came. Her oxygen levels had dropped, and she had a bloody nose that wouldn't stop. Her bones are clogged with cancer and cannot produce enough platelets to stop the leaking.
I was at an appointment, and before I could get home she was taken by ambulance to Circle of Life Hospice. She has checked in, already been bathed, medicated and fed (she said it really good).
I am going up to see her now. Brief visits are welcome. Immediate family only after 7pm please.
She is still hoping to be out for the singing tomorrow night, but they will not decide if she is able until tomorrow morning.

So sorry to hear things are so bad for Janice. I want more than anything for Cancer to leave us alone forever.
We lost one of our former Elders from church last Sunday. They announced at the end of service that he had passed and I just ended up in a pile of tears.
He will have Heaven, but I just want EVERYONE to win over cancer.

You and me both, Gin! Back in May, one of the Elder's sons passed away from cancer. He had it while a child, and after 45 years, it came back! FORTY-FIVE YEARS!!! Makes me wonder for others, myself included....You think you have beat it, and it comes back with a vengeance.
