I remember when he guest starred on an episode of Newhart as a guest star on Dick Loudon (Bob Newhart's) fictional television show. It was a very funny episode, Dick Loudon did not know what to do to respond to all of Don Rickles's jokes

It seems like an odd pairing, but Rickles and Newhart were best friends in real life.
