Hi, people!:
Of course you don't knew him, but Jacques Martin a French TV showman is dead last Fryday (September 14) in his Biarritz house (France).
Jacques was born in Lyon in 1933 and was the grandson of the Tsar Nicholas II 's principal chef. He performed a great career in comical emissions dand TFI a France popular channel. He was an excellent actor, commedian, singer and showman, and he excelled in satiric characters. He was very known for his wonderful TV emissions "Le Petit Rapporteur", "Thé Dansant", "La Lorgnette", "Le Monde est à Vous" and "L'école des fans". His great operistic voice was very nice to hear when he performed old French songs from vaudevilles or simply popular "chansons". He also was a remarkable cook and a "bon vivant".
Jacques Martin has his contract cancelled and he had a brain-vascular problem that gets the half of his body paralyzed. He was so dissapointed that he had a generalized cancer and he dead this September, 14.
I was very sad because his death, for he was the first French showman I saw when I got the TV5 French channel. I was just starting to learn French and he heled me a lot to learn even more in a very hilarious way...so many years ago! I was 15 back then ,and now I'm 35. I raized a lot Jacques Martin for his culture, his sympathy, his tenderness with children, his love for wine, music, good food and this old France we all love. Now he is gone. The Heaven has a new Angel who is singing and doing jokes and pranks besides Michael Landon, Victor French, Kevin Hagen, Dabbs Greer, Gardel, Maurice Chevallier, Georges Brassens, Jacques Brel, Edith Piaf, Atahualpa Yupanqui, Jospehine Baker and all these who made our lifes 1000 times better than it is.
"Adieu", Jacques. Many thanks for all that you gave us, without having anything from us. I asked for these prayers for you could enter in Heavens, happily and singing as ever:
"...A la pêche aux moules, moules, moules
Je n'veux plus y aller maman.
Les gens de la ville, ville, ville
m'ont pris mon panier, maman
Les gens de la ville, ville, ville
m'ont pris mon panier ,maman..."
Vanesa.
P.S: "...Remember me with smiles and laughter
for that is how I will remember you all
if you can only remember me with tears
then, don't remember me at all..."
Bonsoir, Jacques, and as you used to say: "Merci d'être venu!"
