| It is a good episode. Poor Laura and Jonah learning that it was fake gold after working for all that time digging it out. | |

| This episode I never liked, all the over the top almost funny dreams I just didn't find funny. I heard from interviews that its very typical Michael Landon humor, but I found it kinda silly, and not funny at all. It's a matter of an opinion, though. | |

| This was a funny one! “It was a huge shock when it came and very excited“ This was the duchess of cambridges take on how she felt when William proposed during their official engagement interview with ITN reporter Tom Bradby. There was a real giggle at the end. Cute. | |

| This is perhaps my favorite episode ever! That is, if you can actually name a favorite... There are so many good ones that it is hard to do!
Anyway, here are my favorite parts:
The sections with the Olesons and the missing screen door
Where Nellie and Willie follow Laura and Jonah to try to find out the secret, and when Laura and Jonah outsmart them and look like they are fishing!
Laura's dreams about being rich. I especially the parts after the daydreams where Charles asks her when she started eating pencils, and when Charles asks her what she thinks of the sign and tells her she was a million miles away!
And the best part of all: When Charles sits down to talk to a disappointed Laura who wanted to give her family a lot of new expensive things, and he tells her that she gives them everything they ever wanted every single day of their lives... (love, respect, and joy), and how there isn't enough gold in the whole world to buy those things. That is one of my favorite lines from any LHOTP episode! “I am beginning to learn that it is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.” - Laura Ingalls Wilder

- Hmm....everyone else here seems to really like this episode a lot. For me, it is just so-so. Parts of it are cute, but I don't think it is that funny nor that touching. Also, I don't like that in Laura's fantasy, even Nels has to be dirt poor. I don't usually think of Laura as that spiteful of the Olesons. I probably am reading too much into a little girl's dreams....
But yes the part with Mrs. Oleson hitting Nels on the head to kill the fly was funny.
It was kind of weird how Jonah worked so hard but he did not seem that disappointed that it was not gold. He was thrilled just to get Laura's fishing pole. I think it is kind of mean for him to take it, though.
Also, since I love the previous episode so much, it may also affect how I see this one. I don't know when I even wrote that "review," but I've changed my mind about this episode. I just watched it and I sat there and was laughing a lot during Laura's dreams. Especially at how she dreamed the Olesons were so poor......not sure why now I think it is funny and I didn't like it that much before! I think tonight I was just taking it as being the silly dreams of a little girl who would not understand what changes truly would come to her life if she were filthy rich. (She somehow failed to imagine that Ma could have maids and servants cleaning that whole big house!). She also failed to nderstand that just because her family would be rich, the Olesons would not automatically be poor! In fact, the Olesons would get richer if the Ingalls family bought everything in the mercantile! Jonah is as cute as a button. He should have been a more recurring character, as well as Mr. Sprague. I did think Mr. Sprague was sweet to not make fun of the children and to realize how hard they worked to mine the fool's gold. But my favorite part is when Pa talks to Laura at the end....his line about how the joy and love he gets from Laura are worth more than gold (or something like that) kind of even choked me up. Yes, I truly would rather be poor and have the love that the Ingalls family has than be rich without that kind of love!
