| Hey all! Back in November of 2006, I got notice from school that Shiloh, my youngest son, had taken his routine hearing test and there were some problems. I took him to a place in a nearby town, Seguin, that tested him and the results were that he had "mild" hearing loss on low level tones. During Christmas break, I set up an appointment with an ear/nose/throat doctor and she re-tested him. Between the two periods of time, he has gone from "mild" to "moderate" hearing loss for low tones and he had trouble distinguishing the words that he heard. So, he is scheduled for a CAT scan on both of his ears to see if all the bones are formed properly and not malformed. When she gets the results from that, she will let us know. If something is found wrong, she might recommend we see a doctor in SA, a neurosurgeon. As for right now, he can't use ear phones anymore (which is bad for him; he just got an MP3 player!). So, I will keep you updated. She also asked if he snored at night. We said he did and she said that his tonsils were enlarged. She said that it causes snoring and periods of stopping breathing at night. She said that if we let our doctor know that, they might recommend his tonsils be removed. It's funny because I just saw a show on that the other night. Kids were like that, snoring, stopping breathing for periods and learning problems in school, behavior problems, etc. They removed their tonsils and everything greatly improved. So, like I said, I will keep you updated on him. Just pray that it is something that can be helped. She said if it was left untreated (the hearing) he could be deaf at a young age. "I would fight for you - I'd lie for you - walk the wire for you - ya I'd die for you..." | |

| Shiloh is in my thoughts and prayers, Misti.
Is there a possibility that the enlarged tonsils and the hearing problem can somehow be tied together? If there is a problem, I am hoping that there is a simple solution for it.
Please do keep us posted. {{{HUGS}}}[/i] | |
