- And Carol! They have tamarinds! So maybe I'll try that, too.
Yeah? That's neat! Here is a recipe for the Tamarind drink:
Ingredients 1/2 lb dried tamarind (remove shell) 3 cups water 1 cup sugar (or to taste)
Directions 1 Put the tamarind and water in a large bowl.
2 Let soak for an hour or so.
3 Then remove seeds with your hands.
4 Try to mash up the tamarind, for this will make it easier to remove the seeds and give the water a more pronounced flavor.
5 Pour water through a strainer.
6 Add sugar.
7 Refridgerate until well chilled. Serve and enjoy!
8 Serve chilled with lots of ice. THis is really great! I've already tasted it, since I can get Tamarind paste at Asiatic stores. This drink is the better you can have in hot days. Vanesa.

First time I tried it? Hum. Don't remember exactly when, but I think it was five or six years ago... Vanesa. P.S: I also likes nuts and such only in cakes or pies...I don't bear them alone.

| Yes, that's where they are here, anyway. There's a small section of our fresh fruits department, that has pineapple, star fruit, persimmons, kiwi.......anything that doesn't grow around here. But yeah......it's in with the fresh fruit. | |

| It looks like it would be good over ice on a hot day. I haven't seen it in the stores yet. Spring is finally here, the lovely pink blooms on the "spray" tree outside my window are gone leaving a beautiful willow. | |

| I love Persimmon pudding, but you can't get persimmons this time of year here. Normally, I just wait 'til after the first frost and go pick 'em up off the ground myself.
Interesting old wive's tale; If you pop open a persimmon seed and find a spoon, it'll be a mild winter. If you find the shape of a fork, you'll have a hard winter.
