| Well, its started out good. Our sons have been wanting a 4-wheeler for a long time and we had the money so we got one. We are so excited and the boys are, too. We were going to surprise them so we told them we had looked at one but it was too expensive when in actuality we had saw one in a brochure, wrote a check for it and it was to be brought today.
Well then earlier the man called and said that the company had give him the wrong brochure so the one we picked out was a bit more expensive. He said they had one with a little less power for a little more than the check we wrote, so we agreed. Meanwhile, we told Shiloh that we had decided they were too expensive so we were going to wait.
Well, we went to Seguin tonight and on the way home, Shiloh fell asleep. So on our way by we stopped by the man's house and hubby rode the 4-wheeler, while I was hoping Shiloh didn't wake up. We finally made it home and then I called Damis out of the house and told Shiloh to wake up.
Needless to say, they were thrilled. Really ecstatic. We came in and ate and then I got on the computer while hubby & Shiloh went outside to move it around the back.
Then Shiloh came running in and said our dog had been hit by a truck. She was Sheba, our half lab/half husky. They are allowed to roam free since we are in the country and a truck went down the road. She ran after it like she always does, by the front tire and something happened where she was was thrown under it.
So I went out there and there she lay. I approached hubby & he said she was dead. The man had stopped and was apologizing left & right but we told him it wasn't his fault & not to worry. That is the chance we take.
So then hubby grabbed her by the collar (I guess he was going to drag her home but I told him no, so we both got the front & back legs and carried her back.
By the time we got back I was huffing & puffing (because she was heavy) and crying. Shiloh was in here crying and Damis was upset. We've had her since about 2000 and she meant a lot to us.
Hubby will bury her tomorrow by Shiloh's 4-H Lamb. What started out a good day ended up bad. We will miss her but hubby said that it happened so quickly she didn't suffer. That's all I ask... "I would fight for you - I'd lie for you - walk the wire for you - ya I'd die for you..."

| Don't kill me Misti, but as I read that, I was thinking, "Dang, we got a country and western song in the makings."

| It's terrible to lose a pet. They are a family member. I'm so sorry that happened, Misti. |

Ain't nothing wrong with us rednecks. I bet me and your hubby would have a good old time. Last one to the 4 wheeler loses.

| Misti!! I am just so, SO sorry. Our dogs become part of our families I know...reading your post brought memories of when our Shepard died in my arms. I really don't know how you got the strength to carry Sheba back (both physically and mentally)...that must have been sheer strength of will. I feel so bad for your boys too...it will take awhile to heal from this. (((HUGS))) Oh, I forgot to mention that I'm happy for your 4-wheeler purchase! I think you just gotta have one if you live in the country! “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

| I am so sorry to hear about Sheba, Misti. It was nice that the man driving the truck actually stopped. Many others would have just kept on driving. It's so difficult to lose a pet. | |

| So sorry that you lost your family pet, Sheba. At least the man stopped and didn't just go on like so many would have done. Spring is finally here, the lovely pink blooms on the "spray" tree outside my window are gone leaving a beautiful willow. | |
