| When we went and visited the children on Monday, Rachel told me that her ear hurt a lot. So, I looked at it, and there was quite a bit of blood in her ear. I mentioned it to April, and she said that she would try to get Rachie in to a doctor pretty soon. We've been trying to get in touch with them all week to check on Rachel, have left messages on the phone, keep calling back, and aren't getting any replies, so we're not sure what's up with Rachel. But please pray for her. She was in a lot of pain. I gave her some Children's Tylenol that I had in my purse (Auntie's Magic Purse rides again! ) but that doesn't take care of the problem. On a related note........John & April have missed Michael's neurologist appointment three times now, and Michael has run out of one of his anti-seizure meds. This last time that John & April cancelled his appointment, the reason they gave was - they had carpet coming that day, and didn't want to miss it. (Nevermind the fact that neither one of them worked that day, and ONE of them could have taken Michael to his appointment. Nevermind the fact that he almost DIED from one of his seizures.. Yes, I'm angry. ) When we talked to them Monday, they still hadn't rescheduled an appointment for Michael, and they really didn't seem very concerned about when it got done. Your prayers are greatly appreciated. | |

| Both Rachel and Michael are in my prayers. I do hope by now that they had gotten Rachel seen and Michael's appointment scheduled. I can't believe after how serious things had been for Michael that they would let this go. Please let us know if you hear anything. | |

| Savannah, This sounds so serious. Is there any way that you could contact the social worker that has seen the children in the past and tell her everything that has been going on? I'm sure that if Rachel was living with you, you would have taken her to see a doctor immediately. And poor Michael. What are they thinking, missing his appt's. like that? | |

| You know what's totally frustrating? The Social Worker seems completely charmed by John and April. April grew up with a lot of foster brothers and sisters, and knows exactly what the social worker wants to hear. She can be extremely sweet and likeable when she wants to. But no matter what we show Protective Services, they won't step in. Michael told us, several weeks ago, that he'd like to shoot himself. He's EIGHT, for pity sake! But the social worker just brushed that aside as Michael "wanting attention". I'm so disgusted with how Protective Services has failed my precious children. They live in terrible conditions, are mistreated, and neglected, and "Protective" Services looks the other way. | |

| Well, who is the next to call that is "above" Child Protective Services? Savannah, did you keep any kind of a journal, writing down all that has happened since the children were taken back by Jon and April? If I were you, I would plead with the social worker, and tell her about Rachel's ear, and the situation with Michael. Like you said, he could die if he has another big seizure. Has the social worker seen their living conditions? And if not, then I would seriously MAKE these people listen. Have you asked them why they keep looking the other way? Something is seriously wrong here. You have so many examples of why the children shouldn't be living with Jon and April. Someone needs to listen, and soon. | |

| We finally got an answer at John & April's trailer. April said that the phone had been wired wrong, so they hadn't been getting a dial tone. No calls in or out. (But we left messages on their answering machine. ) Then she told us that she had called the doctor Tuesday (apparently, on the phone that didn't work) and that he said that he couldn't get Rachel in til late in July. She says that Rachel's ear is all better. I'm hoping for the best, but to be completely honest, I'm beyond the point of believing anything that April says. I'll check Rachel's ear Saturday, and see how she's doing. Teresa, I know what you're saying. But I don't know who else to call. Everyone we've talked to, in the legal realm, says that the children belong back home with us, but there's nothing that they can do to help us. The social workers are all charmed by April, even though the children have told them repeatedly that they want to go home. One social worker told us that it's because our children aren't as bad off as some others that they're dealing with, and that they're understaffed and overworked. So, basically, something terrible would have to happen before they'll do anything. I haven't given up, and I haven't stopped praying. I just don't know what else to do. | |

| Why is it that those who need help the most never get it? I can't even begin to imagine tne frustration that your family feels, Savannah. But, I feel frustrated just hearing about what those kids are going through! | |

| I dont think the phone is what is "wired wrong"!!! Sorry to hear things are so bad for those two sweet kiddos. God has a hand on them, Savannah---trust that. BUT do all you can to be heard....I know its exhausting. You are doing it for those kids and they will thank you someday. Many Prayers....daily. It is the lack of Christianity that has brought us where we are. Not a lack of churches or religious forms but of the real thing in our hearts. LIW.....Words From a Fearless Heart | |

| My Mom, Dad and I went to see the children today, so Mom and I had a chance to check Rachel's ear. It's better than it was, thankfully, but still looks red and irritated. We have some herbal medicine that has worked wonders in the past for Rachel, so we put some of that in her ear, and gave her some cotton balls for her to put in her ear. She said that it doesn't hurt as much now. I'm so glad. I've sure been praying. Her ear looked so painful on Monday! Poor sweetie! Thank you so much for praying. I really believe that the prayers are what helped her ear. | |
