I think it´s the hair, because when Laura talked to Ma she compared Johnny with Pa, like they are similar to each other and she also mentioned the hair I think..

Laura's first crush. When Johnny show the writing on the tree, she was heart broken.

I love it, when Carol was brushing her hair. Seeing her hair floating on her shoulders. So beautiful.

Not the best episode. For one thing, Mitch Vogel was 18 when this was shot; why couldn't they have picked an actor who was around 12 -14 and didn't look like a scarecrow?

Then, at least, it would have been believable for Laura to have a crush on him.

Same reason Albert fell in love with his teacher. Not really unbelievable. School girl crushes aren't out of the realm....

I think Laura probably liked Johnny because he was an older boy and he did pay her some attention. She was flattered that he complimented her running ability, for example. For an "older man" to do that for this little girl was probably very cool to her.....and we all know that Laura prefers older men to those her own age, right?

I kind of like Johnny. I think he's cute in a goofy sort of way.

This was a fun episode to see Laura have her first real crush on a boy but Johnny Johnson just seemed too old for Laura and Mary. He was so much older than them. But I still felt bad for Laura that she was so in love with Johnny but he was in love with Mary instead. That's a childhood romance for you!
