| I love this episode! My favorite I think. Great acting, great drama and super guest - Ernest Borgnine was awesome as Jonathan. Wasn't Michael great at showing emotion? |

| My problem is that I see NO chemistry at all between Mary and their fictional parents. However, Laura and Albert had a lot of emotional scenes with Charles and Caroline...

| I never saw the second part of this episode, but I did see all of the first part. I have to say that I understand why Charles was paying more attention to his son than he was to Laura. He had always wanted a son and he was so happy that he finally had a son. Laura was not right to wish that her brother would die but then again it is understandable that she was upset. | |

| what a great episode .....I went thru a box of tissues i think.....When Charles broke down with Edwards i was crushed.....I loved how Earnest explained to Laura that God had answered her and had lead Pa to her it seem so cleasing for her guilt |

I agree. The very best part is the end of part two when Charles finds Laura, but the rest of part two is kinda boring. I tend to see this one on TV more than any other episode. After seeing it so many times, I've come to like it more than I used to. |

| This episode in my opinion, could very well be the crowning acheivement for Michael Landon. His values we're sacred, and they were on display in every aspect within this episode. A brillant performance by all who were part of this special episode. I have the entire series on dvd, and I would not give it away for all the money in the world. Many Blessings. | |

| Another powerful scene in this one is when Charles breaks down just after stepping off the horse to fill the canteen. Mr. Edwards just stands there, not knowing what to do or say. And then, just when all hope seems lost, the cross comes floating in as Charles is filling the canteen. | |

| Melissa has said many times, that her and Michael were kindred spirits. That's what made their scenes together so. special. It also made every story very convincing , for the scenes had a natural sincerity of belief. | |

| An OK episode. Yes it had great acting, but not one I'll probably watch over and over. I wonder what MG thought while she acted this one? | |

| I think I remember reading or hearing somewhere that this is MG's favorite episode. It might have been in her interview on the DVD set. | |

| Very good and touching episode. The actors and actresses were amazing. I believe that I even cried while watching this one (which I rarely ever do when watching TV). Even though it was a sad episode, I believe it was one of the best ones. | |
