| I think MG may have mentioned this was her favorite episode when there was that tribute to Michael Landon after he died....I have that on VHS videotape at my mom's house but haven't watched it for a long time.
Anyway, I watched both parts of this tonight. It is an excellent episode, but for some reason it did not move me as emotionally as it has seemed to in the past. I do love when Charles and Caroline recite Psalm 23 after "Freddy" dies. It just seems so real, especially how Caroline cannot really get the words out.

| Part 1 was emotional episode. Part 2 was boring, but interesting at the same time.
Did the real Laura Ingalls, saw an Angel? I was just wondering, when I was this episode, like three weeks ago.

| I remember years ago that this episode seemed to me to be one of the best, but now there are some things about it concerning the parts with Jonathan that I don't really like all that well. I do think maybe the second half of it is a bit drug out.
I don't think this episode has that much to do with the real-life Laura Ingalls, except that I believe she did have a baby brother who died.

| This is my second favorite episode from season 1. Laura was so jealous and resentful of the attention Charles paid to baby Freddy. I know Charles was thrilled to have a son, but he should have made sure he made time to pay attention to Laura. | |

| I liked this more when I was younger, although the first half was well acted. It must have been so hard to have a child sick back then and no help at all with cancer or other diseases.
I know Laura was young but what she did to add to the grief of her parents was very selfish..did she think her mother (even if she thought her father was thinking of her second best) would just go on without caring..or her sisters? I guess the thought process seemed a bit much to me, although I thought Ernest Borgnine was a nice angel..

| Just finished watching this episode. THe part when Charles comes into the room when they find out Freddy passed. The look of anguish is just so real.
I liked part 2. Ernest Borgnine was perfect, such a kindly man to a lost little girl. All those signals he was coming up with to make Pa find her were very clever. "Losing" the cross by making Laura scrub her ears hard, the bonfire.

| Great episode and one I remember from my youth.
Tremendous appearance by Ernest Borgnine as Jonathan. It was very sad how the Ingalls lost their son, then thought they had lost Laura, too. But a happy, emotional ending as Laura is made to realise that she was wrong about what was best.

| That was great it had a little touch Highway to Heaven in it as well that Erinest Bornine was Michael role as Jonathan. And also the scene where Mr.Ingells plays some games with his girls. | |

| I just rediscovered this forum, and I was reading posts and not even realizing that I'm the "amyk" on here until I then tried to log in, and my old log in worked! Anyway, I watched this episode this week. Previously, someone had asked what I didn't like about the Jonathan parts. I don't think I have any major issues, although I think him telling Laura that God was taking a rest may have been kind of confusing for her. I think, though, he meant well and was just trying to delay her from doing anything more drastic (like trying to go to the Big Woods). And him telling her that they needed to get God's attention by building the big fire, although now I do realize that this was really so that Pa could see the smoke and know where to go to look for Laura. | |

| I felt the episode left it open as to whether Jonathan was a human being or an angel. At the end when Laura turned around to look for him, his lean-to shelter was still there. Obviously Laura didn't build it herself and it seems an odd thing for an angel to either construct or leave behind. | |

| I don't know that an angel would need the lean-to, but maybe he built it for Laura, knowing that she would be coming? I do still think that Jonathan was meant to be an angel.
Jonathan must have been a name that Michael Landon really liked. We have the Ernest Borgnine "Jonathan," and then we have Jonathan Garvey, and then of course Michael's character in HIGHWAY TO HEAVEN is Jonathan.
I cannot recall any characters named "Michael" off the top of my head!
