| I always wanted a wedding reunion, corny but nice. It could have been Carrie or Grace, and everyone came to it that could...NOTHING really bad happens and there are a lot of laughs and memories. | |

| I liked how Nellie finally stood up to her mother at the end of this episode, and despite the fact that Harriet didn't like Percival Nellie still chose to marry him and stick with the marriage. In the episode from season 4 when Nellie married Luke, Harriet tried to put a stop to the marriage and succeeded, but Nellie was also still quite young. It was nice to see someone stand up to Harriet, especially Nellie of all characters, since it doesn't seem like that happened too often | |

| You know I never thought of that, people talked about reunion shows, but if you made it a "special" it would have been nice, a nice Xmas one, Carrie gets married, etc. Michael said once that those kind of shows were to see "who got old" which I thought was odd...it wasn't like he wasn't seen in things and the others quit acting. | |

I disagree,With him. That's a odd thing to say. The didn't really end good too me. I agree i think a good specail for christmas been nice. With the whole cast.Well who ever could be on it. | Well, I think, IMO, he was a little vain about his looks, but he aged well, (with facelift and hair dye) but still he looked good, rugged looks. But he might have been one of those, "Let's move on" and maybe didn't want to read, "Karen looked ageless but Michael showed some wear" lol
I think a nice show before many started to die to show "What happened to Harriet and Nels" and everyone would have warmed many hearts even if it wasn't perfect. Every Walton's wasn't great, but the fans watched. Richard Thomas was another one that didn't show age very much...I don't think LHOP actor's did either.

| Yeah, I know that. I didn't really like when he left the show for a while. it wasn't the same without Richard Thomas. The other actor wasn't playing john boy that good. His acting was okay but not awesome. Think I would like to watch it again. Yeah, The last season of Little house was okay wasn't awesome either. Cause everybody pretty much left the show!! “Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it... Yet.” ― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables | |

| With the right incentive, most would have come back...I heard, sadly, some non-main characters, like Doc Baker, weren't happy with the money after a few years, but this wouldn't be every week, so they could afford to pay them a bit more for one special.
Now, it can't really be, without Michael, without Victor French, Doc, etc. It would be sad....unless it said they passed away and centered on just the children.

| Walnut Grove gone, Albert was dead, Michael and Victor dead, would have been tough to do. Would have NEVER been the same, but nothing ever is.........And I doubt very seriously that they could have talked Jonathon Gilbert into doing anything, not to mention Scottie MacGregor. "Albert, do you REALLY think you are old enough to know what love is?" "I must be Pa. I love you, I have for a long time." | |

| That's true Dave and without Harriet and Nels and the heart of Walnut Grove..it wouldn't work. Walnut Grove was the base, the heart of the show....they always went back to it.
I think when he blew it up, it was his way of saying, "No more", whatever reason he gave at the time.
I would have loved to see a LHOP museum of some kind set up, a place to visit, to look at the homes, stores, etc. but alas, have to settle for the TV. ; )
I was hoping after all these years, someone would see or meet Jonathan Gilbert. I still worry when everyone says they don't hear from him, he's not homeless or ill...and just doesn't want to be seen by anyone. It can't be because of the show...that was 30 years ago, but you wonder what could have been so awful, to just drop out like that.

| Don't worry about Jonathon being ill or homeless. He is neither.........he was doing theatre as little as five years ago. he got a great education and is far from penniless....... | I thought the theater mention by Allison was just to ward off answering questions. There was a Jonathan Gilbert in the area she mentioned at a playhouse but it wasn't him. Same as the stockbroker thing.
I do hope that he is though...and happy.

But iam glad nellie got married. He changed her and she became nicer.
i'am sure he made grace and carrie be 18 to weed. In the books they carrie and grace married but didn't have children. Mary didn't marry at all. “It was a huge shock when it came and very excited“ This was the duchess of cambridges take on how she felt when William proposed during their official engagement interview with ITN reporter Tom Bradby. | I couldn't believe Charles telling Laura she can't get married until she's 18. He was going to let Mary marry John when she was 15 and she was 16 when she married Adam. He didn't insist she wait. I know she was already living away from home at the blind school, but he didn't tell her she had to wait until she was 18 to wed.

| I'm surprised that Charles was smoking in bed at the end of part 1. You would think he wouldn't have considering a lit pipe is what caused the fired at the blind school killing his grandson and his best friend's wife. Charles sure wanted to rip into Almanzo for hurting Laura. | |

| I watched this one tonight. It has been a long, long time since I last saw it. I like how it has multiple plots or sub-plots going on. I love Nellie and Percival, although it seems a bit unlikely they would just up and decide to get married one day after professing their love for one another. And Nels seemed certain that their relationship would end in marriage, as he said something to Harriet about their future son-in-law before Nellie even told Percival she loved him.
Then there's the whole blind school thing....did they just return all the lumber already put into the new building??? Anyway, it all worked out okay. It was kind of touching when the children returned. They have been through so much together.
And Laura and Almanzo....what to say about them? Well, I love them together, but I do sometimes think they do argue too much. It does kind of drive me crazy that Charles is so adamant that Laura should wait until she is 18. He didn't seem to have any problem with Mary being married off by the time she was about 14, did he? (I mean back in the John, Jr. days.) Maybe he thinks this is different since Almanzo is quite a bit older than Laura.

- This is also one of my favorites, though it bugs me that Almanzo acts like such a stubborn jerk and decides to leave town just because he didn't get his way. He gave no consideration to how Laura felt and that she was torn between the two men she loved most.
I ended up writing a fan fiction story about this episode after Almanzo left Walnut Grove, totally from his point of view. I always thought it was one of my better ones. I also think that Almanzo was the one acting more immature the way he left town. I do like how he said (when he was in the ice) something about being willing to wait 2 years or 20 for Laura.

I wondered about this, tooo - why Pa was willing to let Mary get married when she was so young. But a couple of things have come to my mind about it. Things did NOT have a happy ending for Mary when Pa was going to allow her to marry so young. John changed, and so did his heart toward Mary. She ended up with a broken heart, and it hurt Pa to watch that. Maybe he thought that if Laura had to wait until she was older, she wouldn't have to experience that same kind of heartbreak. Then, too, as you mentioned, there's a pretty big age gap between Laura and Almanzo - which may have made him worry even more that Almanzo would have a change of heart. And then, even aside from those points, Mary was always more mature than Laura, and Pa may have felt that Laura wasn't ready for everything that comes with marriage. When this board was busier and more active, we used to discuss this and wonder the same thing together! I miss those days. It's nice to see a little activity here!
