We went to the theaters a few weeks ago and saw "Watchmen." About halfway thru it I tried to go to sleep because it was so boring. It's about 2 3/4 hours long and we really didn't understand it. Damis & Shiloh were with it and I had Shiloh several times close his eyes. It is definitely not for kids.

I've seen some reviews of it where it is based on a book and people love it but not us!

The one actor I did recognize (he played a superhero that had his face covered) was played by Jackie Earl Haley. If his name sounds familiar: he was in the "Bad News Bear" movie, he was the kid who always made homeruns and rode a small motorcycle & he starred along Tatum O'Neal, I believe. He also was in the movie, "Breaking Away."

My hubby & 18 year old went and saw it Misti...they liked it and aren't fans of the comics, but they're 'special effects' guys and get into that stuff. Not sure they understood it either though. My 14 yr old wanted to see it with them and after reading Yahoo Movie Mom's reviews, there was no way. My sister didn't check the site, and let my teen nieces go to it with friends, thinking it was another 'Batman' or something. Um, nope---far from it, so I've heard.

Speaking of which, I heard that people were a bit surprised that Brad was even nominated for this, that he wasn't anything that 'special' in it. On the other hand, I heard Angelina was amazing in The Changeling and that she totally deserved to be nominated. I know how much you love this power couple Gin.

I actually liked What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Jacob, but I do remember it being a little slow, so I can see why you didn't like it. Leonardo DiCaprio was amazing in it though, and I love Johnny Depp. *swoon*

You got to be Kidding Amy I am guessing you like Forest Gump as well? if i remember right you also Like Sixteen Candles that are three of the Worst movies i have ever seen in my life

Gin i LOVE The Movie Smokey and The Bandit well i watch it to many times so i have't watch it in a While cause i know it by heart but i still love the Movie but the 2nd and 3rd i seen the 3rd but i did't like it and the 2nd one i have heard that one is not good either so i won't even bother watching it

Oh Jacob! You are cracking me up!! :Hahaha: Yeah, it's a thumbs up from me on all of those! Forest Gump is one of my all-time faves, and I can't even tell you how many times I've re-watched Sixteen Candles!

Gin, I think the last I saw Smokey and the Bandit, probably when I was a teen, but back then they showed it on TV repeatedly and I could never refuse watching it! Burt and Sally really were great together!

Well I Have Been Looking for those seasons Online and i found on one Website they were only $44 So i might give them a Try once i have bought all of the Road to Avonlea Seasons Do you like those Amy? You know, shame on me but I haven't seen the Road to Avonlea....I don't see how anything could ever top Anne of Green Gables for me, but I should give it a try.

If you like Anne of Green Gabels (By the Way i like those to) Then you will Like Road to Avonlea to cause there are some of the Same Cast like Rachel Lynde Marilla Cuthbert and Gilbert Comes Back in one Episode it is a Great Show You'll be Hook if you try it

How come you don't like Forest Gump? It's such a neat movie
Here in Monterey, CA we have a restaurant called "Bubba Gump" (it's a seafood place).
The restaurant is named after the movie’s main characters Benjamin Bufford “Bubba” Blue and Forrest Gump who talked about going into shrimping business.

When you enter this restaurant, you will never miss the two huge license plate sign on each table. The red “Stop Forrest Stop” sign is used to signal that a table needs service and the blue “Run Forrest Run” means that all is well.

I like all those quirky, offbeat little films that Johnny Depp made. Gilbert Grape, Edward Scissorhands, Benny & Joon, Ed Wood. I thought it was neat that he gravitated to those kinds of roles instead of to the big-budget blockbusters that I'm sure he could've done if he'd wanted to.

Ok Savannah (and Jacob!), you've talked me into it! I know what you mean Savannah...I watched Anne of Green Gables every fall (my 'seasonal' ritual, LOL!) and sometimes I can't wait until the following fall so I'll pop it in again. Because of this, I think I have everything memorized too! AND I know what you mean about putting a 'first' movie aside sometimes...that's true with books at times too and you just have to put that original 'idea' out of your head and just 'go with it'. I totally get you. I dearly love Marilla too, and who doesn't get a kick out of Rachel Lynde? So yeah, I WILL see this, for sure. I'll let you guys know when I do!

We may have already talked about this before on the forum, I can't remember, but Johnny said in an interview that it has never been his intention to do 'blockbuster' movies, he has only wanted to do quality film, and does seek out those quirky characters. When you think about it, even Pirates was in typical "Johnny form", considering how quirky Jack Sparrow is! I love that about him as an actor...he does some pretty 'out there' things, and for the most part they end up working for him.

And I just realized I could have used that 'multi-quote' feature. :unsure: Whoops!

I'm with you girls. I loved Forrest Gump & really love "What's Eating Gilbert Grape." I like Depp in his roll & thought that DeCaprio did an amazing job. "The doctor said I could go at any time..." But everyone has their own tastes! I mean, I still didn't like "Watchmen" though some loved it.
